Yep really felt for him. Opts to play for a country of 90M inhabitants. What happens? they don't have a striker for the first 4 matches. No matter how poor your best striker is, he always should have played, just to get the best out of your best player. You know, you guys kept ridiculing the "conveyor belt of talent" thing, kept ridiculing us who have a better insight in German football, and actually know the high number of truly gifted players coming through our ranks. So it's poetic justice to see us hold all three European youth football titles at the same time, U17 EC, U19 EC and now U21 EC, unprecedented in history. And it's poetic justice to see all the bullshit you spout about our league to be literally pissed on - all of those youngsters play in the Bundesliga, while all of yours play in the 'best league in the world'.
This said, I was particularly impressed with the defence (and DM) throughout the tournament. Knowing that this is the achilles heel of the senior team, it's very promising. We basically won the tournament without a proper striker, although I agree with Leonardo that Wagner should have played in all matches - even a mediocre striker is better than none.
Congrats U21, congrats Horst Hrubesch Trainergott.
