While on the subject of successful youth teams, heer is the squad of Italy's winning U21s in 2004:

    Starters:
    1 Marco Amelia
    3 Emiliano Moretti
    5 Daniele Bonera
    6 Daniele De Rossi
    8 Angelo Palombo
    9 Alberto Gilardino
    11 Giuseppe Sculli
    13 Andrea Barzagli
    14 Cesare Bovo
    15 Marco Donadel
    17 Giondomenico Mesto
    Substitutes
    12 Federico Agliardi
    22 Carlo Zotti
    2 Cristian Zaccardo
    4 Alessandro Gamberini
    10 Matteo Brighi
    16 Alessandro Potenza
    18 Alessandro Rosina
    19 Simone Del Nero
    20 Andrea Caracciolo
    21 Gaetano D'Agostino

Its surprising to see how many of these kids have made it, and also shocking that many of them have not been given a chance to represent the Azzurri even now inspite of doing well for their clubs.

Going back further to the 1996 winning team where Totti was the star of teh championship, here are some of those players:

    Gianluigi Buffon
    Fabio Cannavaro
    Salvatore Fresi
    Alessandro Nesta
    Christian Panucci
    Luigi Sartor
    Alessio Tacchinardi
    Damiano Tommasi
    Nicola Amoruso
    Marco Delvecchio
    Francesco Totti

One thing you have to admit about the italian youth system - a high percentage of them make it.
