Do you think this Johan Derksen is a reliable source? Seems he's pretty sure about it.

And what do you think about Vlaar? Is he a good defender, would he fit to Werder Bremen? The Bremen fans who know him seem to be quite happy with him as a possible replacement for Mertesacker...

Our manager Klaus Allofs however still denies any contact to Vlaar as well as the possibility Mertesacker might leave Bremen this summer.

Derksen is the chief editor of Hollland's version of Kicker. Usually he doesn't bring news like this if he isn't pretty sure about it. (haven't heard the exact words he used, so it could be he didn't say it was 100% sure, since th news ins't on the front page of his magazine yet, I'm pretty sure it's not done yet)

Would be gutted about him leaving, but we have no money so everything is for sale. Would be a good signing for Werder in a sense that he is a solid defender & a real team player who always gives everything. 1 Major minus: he's injury prone, he had a few very serious injuries.

Chief editor of Hollland's version of Kicker? Wow, that should mean something then.

Is Vlaar a fast player, does he have some qualities in "opening a game"? That's where Mertesacker always had some difficulties..

Is he good in the air and does he have a good technique for a defender, is he suitabble for fast combination play?

His passing is decent, occasionally comes up with good long passes too. Very strong when it comes to heading both defensive and offensive. I would derscribe his technique as adequate. Though he isn't an out an out 1 touch player he's suitable for combination play.

Vlaar leaving for Werder fucking Bremen??? Wth! Our best player of the year..next year is gonna be such a joy..But the krauts have money and we need it. Speaking of them, tomorrow we have to lose!!
