Denilson is way better than Lucas. Lucas hasn't done anything significative in his career. Denilson reminds me of Ederson of Lyon, similar player similar role and similar ages.

Lucas is not a poor footballer btw. He's unlucky to be playing with Mascherano - they bring the same thing to the midfield even though they are not similar(both good off the ball, but not so much on it. Lucas has got more potential on it though). He'd have done more than fine with Alonso in there.

The trouble with comparing all these medicore midfielders is that the ranking just changes monthly. Sandro looked good last night, but i'm sure soon enough, he'll be looking useless again. Ramires occasionally decides to play football, but usually just wanders around.

Lucas has been far and away the best of them this season.
Or does he just look good because of Liverpool's fall from grace, i.e. is he still playing at the same level when Liverpool were one of the Elite sides in early 2009, killing Madrid & Man Utd?
