Spectacular 'manita' from Hercules to beat Real Sociedad and sending them to second overall. Rayo beaten at home as well which was a bit of a surprise. In the end the Betis-Villarreal B match was cancelled due to the swine flu outbreak in the Betis camp.

Cartagena early season form has cooled a bit. Real Soceidad and Hercules are pretty well positioned at the moment. But then just four points separate #3 from #12 in the table.

Two big top of the table fixtures at the weekend: Salamanca - Rayo and Real Sociedad - Betis.

Pascal Cygan's outhrough injury. They're also realising how small their squad is. I'm still expecting Hercules to do their usual mid-season implosion though.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how Betis fare as well. Poor results early on but now they seem to have turned it around. Still hope Rayo can make the top 3.

How is Joselu doing?

He looks like a paquete. Both he and Arthuro have been absolutely dreadful upfront for us. Shows the odd flash of good technique but in terms of hold-up play, off the ball runs etc he's been poor.

Prior to us winning these last two games we looked like we were in big trouble; we were going to bring an emergency striker in to cover Aarón's injury, but it now looks like we'll wait until the transfer window.

It seems moving him so quickly in to the first team might have been a mistake.

Real - Team full of youngsters led by Aranburu & Xabi Prieto.
Hercues - Best squad in Segunda. Over the past couple of seasons they've been cherry-picking the best players whose contracts have run out.
Rayo - One of the best supported teams in Spain. I'd prefer to see them rather than than Getafe.

Been a while since we bumped this thread. Here is the table after 34 rounds. La Real still pretty comfortable at the top but then it's all very close 2-7 in the table. Even Numancia in 8th still have a chance to go up with eight matches to go. Bottom of the table is also really intriguing. Castellon are probably down but then anyone from 12 through 20 is in for a fight to stay up.
