Your board annouced Sven as your new manager ?

The BBC have a report with Sven quoted as saying 'he would like to get back into coaching'

Personally id be mortified if Liverpool went anywhere near him, dont dislike the guy, but hes tactically inept and negative, aspects in a manager i couldn't cope with !

I was really unhappy when we were linked with him in 2004. I'd feel worse if it happened now.

I dont see him as a motivator, obviously as a club manager you have the ability to buy, and he built a very good Lazio squad, so would Sven + money be any better ?

Yeah. He wouldn't ever win the champions league but I reckon that he could do well in the league, he used to be a very good league manager.

I'd have to actualy kill someone if he came within 50ft of the Old Trafford dugout though.

    No imo.

He would've been about as good as Ranieri (i.e.: nearly winning trophies, but not quite achieving so) imo.

I know most people think he's a cunt, but there aren't too many in the world better than Mourinho when it comes to winning matches and trophies.

I think i would yes, his record before he came to England is VERY impressive. But style of play MIGHT be an issue, would he try and play defensive football at Newcastle? scratch I doubt it, it's pretty much impossible. Also how much has his England experiance damaged him?

Not a bad record at all, but hes never been a top club, debateable if you consider Lazio as one, but i dont believe they are as big as Milan,Juve,Inter and possibly even their city rivals Roma.

To be honest i simply cannot see any club in England in the near future with Sven sitting on the bench, i honestly believe Serie A would be a good place to go back and offer his services

Err... maybe in 20 years when he has Svens record(which REALLY isn't likely). It's like saying Pardew>Eriksson or Curbishley>Eriksson, it's just not true.

Sven IMO is a top CLUB manager, he just wasn't cut out for being the England manager... just like everyone bar Alf Ramsey so far.

FFS he got there by playing football EVEN worse than Allardyce. ANd he didn't have the same financial restraints.

FF is right, Sam is brilliant at managing a team with 0 finances and full of 'past it' players (no offence to Bolton, he gets them playing well). Sven would get Bolton relegated.

Thats why I don't think Big Sam is ever going to get the England job; too many memories of another manager, who was brilliant with smaller teams with little finances who they appointed a few years back.

A tactical coward. A weasel when it you need to give players a kick up the ass at half-time, dour defensive football.

Honestly I can't think of a better person to grace the OT dugout, just make sure i'm not there armed with a shotgun.

I will shoot David Dein if the Swede comes anywhere near the dugout of Grove. He is welcome to buy tickets and watch the games though Smile

Dour defensive football, tactically inadept and doesnt have the guts to face up to players if needed. Even McLaren seems to have done better than him when it comes to weeding out the deadwood.

Built a great team at Lazio but nearly bankrupted them in the process. So whether he can win success when operating in a budget is very doubtful.

And took Benfica to 2 European Finals!!!

Fantastic record, he was a genious. I think he doesn't have the charisma to overcome the stars and put them in place. He is good leading young and ambitious players, but not good leading stars and suffering from media pressure. And he is getting old and avoiding problems instead of fighting for what he believes.

No thanks.Keep your amazing WC ex overated-coach for yourself <ale>

No doubt his records BEFORE his english period were amazing but a guy who prefers ROONEY,LAMPARD,TERRY,ROBINSON,NEVILLE,BECKHAM ect and co to players like Heskey,Samuel,Kirkland,Butt,Campbell,Murphy ect is shit and knows nothing about this sport. To be fair with him he only decided to follow the opinions of the english people and medias (that's why England was horrible to watch and mediocre during the last WC).In two words:the HYPE was your manager.I don't think MacLaren is couragous enough to play his real best players.A shame cos he is a very decent coach.Surely the best ENGLISH. <Ale>

So you'd play a left back at right back?

Wayne Bridge as good as he can be, couldn't kick with his right foot if he's life depended on it.

I like Neville but i don't think he adds enough in attack.us french are lucky we have Sagnol (better crosser, better defensively and stronger than Neville).Bridge is very good and should have a chance even if it's only at RB.

I think P.Neville is very good too.Clearly a better DM than Lampard if you ask me.I remeber him with Mu vs liverpool some years ago and he was very good on his day.He is tough and has a good mentality(doesn't cry when he isn't playing).A good team player and a winner mentality.i prefer him to G.Neville <<ale>

Stole the words from me. He Spent an average of £100m-per-season all for one Scudetto.

I certainly wouldn't have him whilst Jol is here. He'd probably be no better/worse than Santini (we did a great impression of Greece @ Euro 2004 in 6 games under dear Jacques) but I'd still pick Santini, purely because he comes a lot cheaper.
