I think you're probably right. I don't bet so I have no idea about these things.

Oh well, Portugal should have scored more so its not as though I was hard done by. Still annoying to have your arms raised in anticipation of a bulging net and perhaps a bulging wallet too.

No one talks about cameroon. They are the African team i rate the highest mentality wise. They are fighters! Their players always perform better for them than they do for their individual clubs. Germans of Africa.

They do have a lot of good individuals though. I'd say they've got the best collection of midfielders(Song, Makoun, Mbia, Enoh, Nguemo, M'Bami, Emana) in the continent. Bassong, Ekotto, N'koulou at the back and a good keeper in kameni(one of the few African countries with a reliable keeper). An upfront they've got Webo(who's always good for them) and Eto'o. A very good team. I can see them doing very well.

Haven't seen him play yet. But Le Guen has been using him since he took over.

I see he's a playmaker cheers that was one player i think Cameroon lacked.

Looking forward to seeing him in the ACN.

Built like a linebacker but with great technique.

Best starting on the right or left in a 4-4-2 and drifting in to become AM.

Only question is - why has he played his football in Norway and Austria when he is 26 and a half ?

Should have moved up by now.

Cameroon are the African's most likely for 2010.

Probably because he's a late developer?

Some talented players don't develop the consistency in their game and the know how to use their talent(skill, technique, vision etc) in a team's game at a young age.

Normally Cameroon is the African team i would mention first (And they were the only team from africa featured in my Nintendo World Cup game 15 years ago ffs) but i think Ghana and Ivory Coast are a bit stronger these days.
But it's still true that Cameroon has the best mentality, so maybe i should include them too.

Christ..did anyone see some of the tackles made in that Costa Rica Uaregay game? Mental!

On African countries, I think they will do very well next year. If an Asian team can reach the semi's in Asia, albeit with a bit of...luck, an African team should top that.

All I'm saying is that don't be suprised if one even reach the final or even win it. With Elfenbeinkuste, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana they have a very strong line up.

I would love to see the African side become a real force in WC's to come; to wrestle the power from Europe and South America if you like. I think it's a probable reality too.

Yep. There's six African teams and seemingly a stronger contingent than many previous world cups - with established countries who've been to many world cups (Cameroon, Nigeria) and Ghana & Cote d'Ivoire, who both have teams who went to the last world cup. Then South Africa as hosts, and another fairly establised team in Egypt/Algeria.

Compare to last world cup where the five qualifiers included Angola, Togo, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire - all with zero recent experience (if any). Certainly with the teams there, and the fact that it's in Africa, I'm thinking 3 or 4 should emerge from their groups, and someone should make the breakthrough to SF, maybe beyond.

I hoped after 2002 that perhaps the asians could build on it but that never happened. Africa is the most realistic continent though to win execpt from South America and Europe. Nigeria in particular seems to have a very talented generation coming through with a U-17 WC win two years ago and a final appearance this year plus the side that reached the final at the U-20 WC in 2005 is soon going to take over.

Im very happy about the teams going to the world cup this time. Hopefully Egypt can make it because despite their many troubles I still think their are a better bet then Algeria but they will have to show that on wednesday.

Asians will never win it, well Turkey might but FIFA thinks they are European. Asians arent phisically able to compete on the highest level. It's no suprise to see in S-America the countries with black and whites being more succesful then the ones with a higher native population.

I think this time African teams will really have a good shot. No more one day flies like Angola but real stable football countries with Ghana, Ivory coast, Nigeria and Cameroon.
