    It is due to start soon in Nigeria.

    There is little excuse not to release players for this as they are not likely to be first t6eam regulars for their clubs at that age. It should thereffore be a tough tournament with no excuses.

    How do yiou think ytou will do, and who should we look out for?

    I´ve read the article again. They even played with some B-youths (15-16 y.o).
    At this level girls are allowed to play in the same team.
    I guess, they fielded some female players, too. cheers

    Great start of the tourney.

    Brilliant plan to organise the tourney during the rain season. I suggest a World Cup in Siberia in mid winter.

    In the swamp group Argentina managed a 1-0 win v Honduras. Nobody drowned. Nigeria v Germany was a classic. Kick off was delayed because of the monsoon. Germany could have been 10-0 at HT (no exageration). Maybe Nigeria were suffering from having to withdraw 17 (seventeen) players from their squad after new age tests were announced. Just after HT, 3-0 up a German player got sent off & Nigeria came back to 3-3 in about 15 minutes. Could have gone either way.

    In the other group Brazil needed an injury time goal to beat Japan 3-2 & Mexico lost 2-0 v the very good Swiss.

    The red card for Germany really turned the game around but the team will learn from this. For Germany Thy, Goetze, and Mustafi looked impressive. I was dissapointed with Trinks. I think he could do better.

    To be fair the intention was to hold this about 6 months ago, but the Nigerian govt. did not invest in at the time, so there was serious doubt it would happen. It was too short notice to move it to another country (don't think it was wanted in times of recession) so they moved the time. Should have delayed it further though until after the monsoon season.

    I really enjoyed to rainsoaked matches, thought Argies v Peru was great too. Just don't think it's great for (most of) the players themselves. Can really reduce your chances.

    Anyway only 45 minutes to go until Holland v Columbia.

    Dunno why we changed half our team. Germany are smarter, they basically play the same team & are doing fine. 1-0 up v the Argies now.
