where you think the squad cannot catch there qualitys, if they get injured

    1. özil (no other german players has his vision, technique, passing and goalscoring threat from the midfield)

    2. mertesacker (best german defender by a mile)

    3. ballack (is the most intelligent and experienced player we have, and leader)

If Germany played Ballack in between midfield and attack they would be a contender - with him in midfield they will come unstuck against footballing opposition.

    1. Rooney

    2. Glen Johnson

    3. Would put someone skillful but I've already picked the only 2 from our starting XI Neutral

Rooney needs to do the work of 3 men, as Heskey the bitch counts as a -1, he's definitely the key man.

    Horsecrap.

He doesn't have the legs for that.

His best qualities are - size, heading ability, arriving in the box at the right time, two-footedness and great shooting technique.

    He should play here:

    .............GK.............

Ballack's qualities are man marking....the ref that is. He's a good penalty taker and used to score headers more than most. Now he's just an old man who shouts a lot and harrasses whoever the ref is at every avaliable oppitunity. I am confident in writing off Germany purely due to him.

What is the point in that Pierre

He isn't good enough for that role either. I would put both Podolski and Ozil over him to play there.

He is brilliant in that role - its where he played in 2002 World Cup.

It makes the most of his strengths and covers up his weaknesses.

He also shit on Man U for Chelsea in that role when Lampard's mum died of shame.

He is ok at passing but no more than that, his tackling is average, he is not an athlete - he is one of the best headers of a ball you'll see and a great finisher.

Its obviously the position for him to play.

No Pierre. You still don't get it Laughing

He scored a pen he didn't win. And a header, he did fuck all for the rest of the game. He's not a good player in ANY role. He had a good tourney 7 years ago there...well that's somewhat past it's sell by date in terms of use in 2010

We are just about to enter 2010 Pierre. The 2002 WC was a very very very long time ago.

He doesn't have the energy or dynamism Gerrard has to be able to do this role well which is the main reason it wouldn't work. You would just be left with an immobile link between midfield and attack. You would be forcing Lampard football onto Germany by doing this.

Anyway for England I would say

    1) Rooney
    2) Rio
    3) Johnson

yeah your right, ballack is older and changed his game, for the club and for germany

look to beckham, he changed hes game too, hes not a winger anymore with the perfect crosses since a long time, for real madrid he played in central midfield, or giggs

btw and germany would never play with just one striker

You don't think how he performs will be important? In previous championships he has held the defence together, but this season he has been dodgy, which Rio turns up is vital.

+ Finishing, arriving in the box, heading

    - tackling, passing, athleticism

...and you lot think that should play in CM rather than off the striker ?

    Baffling.

LRD does it matter if he didn't play well or do much v United ?

Players who play in that role make a couple of match-winning contributions, they don't run the game.

He scored a header. Samba could score a header playing as a striker v United in a game Blackburn win it doesn't make him a WC striker Pierre. Your logic on this issue is stubborn and bizarre albeit flawed.

    1. Ballack (EASILY)

he is the head and heart of the operation

    2. Frings

    (if Löw nominates him)

our team has no steel without him

    3. none really

in the olden days I would have said Klose, but we have so many World Class strikers these days, that we could easily survive without him

Lahm is a MUST in terms of attacking threat, but defensively suspect

Merte is not that consistent now, but bearing in ming the slump in form of Friedrich, maybe the closest thing to undroppable

although, Löw could play Höwedes alongside Hummels and I , for one, would not miss Merte

    as for Özil

    he is our surprise package

    not more

    could add antoher dimension

could also do a Gomez and choke completely

for Germany, whether we will do well or not , is not so much about the players on the pitch, but rather about whether Löw and Bierhoff are able to learn from the 2008 and 2006 fiasco

    which I doubt

whereas Holland and England want to ban WAGS

Löw and Bierhoff are keen to have them in South Africa

    Doh

stuff like this will cost us the World Cup

    lol!

I can see why you and Puro are friends, you probably both got your seeing-dogs at the same place Ale

    CLUELESS !

We could do without VDV at the groupstage, but when the going gets though we need him....and we don't have anyone who can cover for him.

(we'd have to change our style completely : play De Zeeuw in his place with Von Bommel and De Jong behind him, so we'd at least completely own midfield)

I agree with JDG, but I'd also add Robben : he's one of the few who can create chances out of nothing against anyone, anywhere.
