    Post by 72-76-80-96-08 Fri Dec 11, 2009 3:12 pm

it can inject the quality it so desperately needs

    looks chaps

I am sure that I am not the only one on here who is suprised by how quickly the EPL is losing its lustre

Liverpool (without Alonso and Didi) are a shadow of their former selves

Arsenal (without mad-Jens and Moritz Volz) are the embodiment of a middling European team

and even the Bayern bosses who were always in love with Wenger now joke about the Frenchman who has not won a trophy for over four years

ManU (post CRonaldo) have also lost their swagger

and Chelsea are paying dear for using Ballack as a squad player (he is now even missing penalties)

    FAR WORSE though

the World Cup is approaching and yet again, chances are that the SEMI-finalists feature virtually NO EPL players Shocked Neutral affraid

    the Big-3+Host-Theory says that

Germany, Brazil, Italy and South Africa are most likely to reach the last 4

    BIZARRELY

players from the 2010 semi-finalists REFUSE to ply their trade in the EPL

    DESPITE

salaries that defy their boldest dreams

    Shocked

only Ballack is earning his money in the EPL (for Germany)

    for Italy, it's even worse

and the Brazilians prefer virtually ANY league to the EPL

    affraid

how seriously can fans around the world take a league that fails to attract the BEST players year in, year out ? Shocked

    to give you an example

only 30 GERMANS have ever played in the EPL

    affraid

    whereas

    31 Frenchies

are CURRENTLY playing their trade in the EPL

    affraid

pity Les Bleus are in decline

    by my own calculation

1 (German/Italian/Brazilian/South African International) is WORTH

    3 Bleus

    cheers

    so, my fine EPL friends

IF you want the gobal fan community to take the EPL

    SERIOUSLY

you NEED to attract the FINEST GLOBAL TALENT

    Not bad Otto.

    Just a couple of things:

    1) shame the scorer of the winner against Germany in the Euro final plays in England

    2) a Ronaldo-less United just recently shamed the Bundesliga Champions without 12 of their senior players

    3) Liverpool's decline is Man City and Spurs' gain. Both those clubs have the quality to dispose of any pesky opposition hailing from the Rhineland, Sudetenland, Bavaria and Saxony.

    4) English employment law requires non EU players to obtain work permits. These are gained based on % of international matches a player has played for their nation over the last year. For this reason, you will not find players like Grafite playing their trade in England.

By the way, despite all the evidence to the contrary, I do like

your assessment of Arsenal as a middling European team Laughing

I've noticed how everyone has shut the fuck up now we're winning. And it's not just because we're in the championship, when we lost a couple of games everyone was loving it. All the predictions of administration, midtable, and bad attendances have gone up in smoke. Ale

    Chris Hughton Ale

Of course, you'd loathe to give credit to anyone remotely Spurs connected.

Luck Lucky Newcastle - Imagine where you'd be if the fans had got what they wanted, i.e. having the best Geordie (Shearer) instead of the best man for the job Question

Chris is kind of like a supply teacher, but fortunately the class is full of mature students who can look after themselves. I don't hold his Spurs connection against him, but i do loathe to give credit to someone that keeps playing Nicky Butt.

Also on Shearer, i don't want him as manager, but before criticising him you should look at Hughtons results last season. <Ale>

Still, he's got a point, even if it remains the same old point everyone's been making for ages now.

Take the Powerfußball that United, Chelsea and Liverpool were all playing even two years ago, and compare it with to the current state of Chelsea and Liverpool – or even what United have looked like recently.

Apart from the City millions – and yes it is far too early to make any predictions or generalizations with confidence – and the resurgence you imply applies largely to two specific neighbouring clubs, and you know it Ale
