Di Biagio didn't play for Roma this decade

IMO this isn't about creating the best team of ex players this decade, but more about who were the key players/legends for the club this decade. Aldair was to Roma what Facchetti was to Inter. The only jersey number their have retired!! IMO Aldair will be among the first names on this team alongside Totti, even tho the best of Aldair was the 90s...

Candela over Montella, no way!!! I remember visiting Rome during their scudetto winning season, the entire city was crazy about the aeroplane. Everytime I told someone that I have travelled all the way from India just to watch the Roma-Inter game, they would start mimicking the aeroplane, shouting MON-TELL-AAAA. (and then I would tell them that I am an Inter fan ). The aeroplane has to be on this starting XI, he was a roman legend during the early part of this decade, a fan favourite - ask any roman fan. Mancini is also a good shout for this spot, he had his good days in Rome. Candela over Panucci, maybe.

Like I said, don't think that is the point... else Ronaldo & Baggio would be in Inter's team. But they are not, coz Vieri & Ibra did much better for Inter than those two legends of the game.

Montella was considered a hero for Roma. So was Batistuta. So was Delvecchio for that matter! But i thought i should only pick one, and i went for Batigol because of his contribution in their title winning season. You could just as easily put Montella in there instead.

You can go on about Emerson, Batigol and Cafu all you want but money was what was had at the beginning of this millenium. Spalletti's squad was based on creativity, team work and tactical nuonce.



With that, we witnessed a team that eradicated the potential of relegation when Capello exited. Not only did it produce the type of football that would match Charlize Theron's facial symmetry, but also gave us a hope that we never had once the Sensi's said "We're Broke".

Sports are fluid. They do not adhere to the Gregorian calendar as we know it. They run in eras, not decades. Its impossible to begin comparing a career with a club which began in 1993 to one which began in 2007. Or to compare someone who played seven years with someone who played two.
