Football is now a squad game. It is not enough just to have a good first XI, you also need good back-up players if you want to be successful, because of this i would like you to list your clubs B-Team starting XI.

B-Team = players that would not get into your teams best starting XI.

It will be interesting to see.....

Which club has the most expensive B-Team.
How many home-grown players are in the B-Team.

    Arsenal FC

At the moment we will assume that our first choice line-up is: Lehmann, Clichy, Toure, Gallas, Eboue, Hleb, Gilberto, Fabregas, Rosicky, van Persie and Adebayor.

    ------------------- Fabianski

    -- Hoyte -- Djourou -- Senderos -- Traore

    -- Ljungberg -- Denilson -- Diaby -- Walcott

    -------------- Da Silva -- Bendtner

    Homegrown players: One
    Current cost estimate: £18m

    -------------Jorquera
    Belletti-Thuram-Oleguer-Sylvinho
    ------------Marquez
    -----------Deco-Gudjohnsen
    Dos Santos------Bojan---------Henry*

Total cost = 2m for Belletti + 5m for Thuram + 0.5m for Sylvinho + 5m for Marquez + 12m for Deco + 12m for Gudjohnsen + 24m for Henry (but of course, I could put Messi in here and lower the cost of the team...same way I could put Iniesta for Deco and lower it even more).

That's a good 2nd team IMO. Not exactly like for like in every position in terms of quality, but good enough, and importantly, most of those are happy to rotate and spend more time on the bench.

I was just about to do this but realised that Cesc has got in there before me, although I had Adebayor instead of Eduardo. The team costs less than £20m which is pretty good value, and we have a grand total of two English players in it!

    Our defense is $h!t

The Midfield is very good(and Toure for Marquez)

The Attack has two players of great potentail but they have proved nothing at the highest level so i would say thats the weakest part of our B team

Its a decent young squad at a competitive cost. Its a shame about the lack of English but the English Diaby or Denilson would cost over £8m.

Did you read that we may not go for Sagna as Flamini said that he will play rightback. Doh

Yeah I saw that. Very strange, I thought he wanted to leave because he was refusing to play at left back and was unhappy at being so far down the pecking order in central midfield. Maybe he is struggling to find a decent club and is reconsidering his options. I think we are fine at right back, it's the lack of cover at left back which is the main concern.

He is. He's also probably a chronically overhyped Liverpool youngster.

Earlier in the season obi was claiming him to be the hottest left back prospect in South America

    @Jaime

I'm tired of reading papers, watching the news and reading comments from mandriles. It's all the same $h!t, trying to de-stabilize Barça.

Very funny when Marca and ASco were excited about signing Henry but when Barça signed him he's suddenly old and useless.

    Same for Chivu: http://marcawas5.recoletos.es/blogs/Controlador?opcion=9&codPost=977

And when Madriz want him he's suddenly "un central elegante de la escuela holandesa" Laughing

He probably will be as he's too expensive to leave out, but i would pick Martins and Viduka ahead of him. Also Owen won't fit into the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation that Sam loves so much. Although there's alot of talk that he will play 5-3-2/3-5-2, which would probably work quite well with Owen.

    My first team would be...

It all depends on what formation we play. If it's 4-4-2 then he will be in the team, he cn play on either wing and even in the middle in a 4-5-1 so he'll still get loads of games. He's about to sign a new deal so i'm assuming he's in Sams plans.

If only we had this much depth in defence.

    Presuming the 1st XI is:

    -------------------------------Sorensen---------------------------

    Delaney----------Mellberg------------Laursen-----------Bouma

    -----------------Petrov----------NRC-----------Barry------------

    Gabby--------------------------------------------------Young-----

    ----------------------------------Carew----------------------------

The 2nd XI goes like this:

    ---------------------------------Taylor------------------------------

    ----??---------------Cahill-----------------Ridgewell-----------??--

    ---------------Gardner-------------Djemba---------Osbourne-----

    Maloney----------------------------------------------------Berger---

    -----------------------------Moore-------------------------------------

Pretty uninspiring and shows our evident lack of depth. With Djemba likely to leave, we really need a good 4-5 players. But i'm not worried, we'll easily be in the top8 with the 1st XI, just a matter of getting some decent back-up (although i'd like a better RB than Delaney).

Where's Madrid's B team then? Oh wait, you don't even have a manager so you don't even know who your first team is, let alone the backups.
