I don't expect him to be a succes for the same reason he wasn't a succes at inter the past 2 seasons: Injuries! He's a crock these days.
But if he magically manages to remain fit then he can surprise many people because he's still a very good player when fit. I have followed his career all these years.
His inter future was over the moment Mourinho took cover as he doesn't have patience with unreliable players - see Robben.
To be fair, Mou gave him as many (or as little) chances as he got under Mancio. He does stay injured a lot, is inconsistent, and gets a lot of cards. But there are some games where he does play very well. Inter are already filled with quality players for the deep midfielders role (Cambiasso, Motta, Zanetti, Stankovic, & Muntari), perhaps Vieira will come back into his own at City where he might be the focal point in the deep.
He mostly started when fit(which wasn't so often) under Mancini, rarely came off the bench, u can check the stats - can't be arsed to look them up. The reason he didn't play a lot of games was because of injuries and he was frequently sent off in his 1st few months at Inter. I remember him enjoying an injury free period towards the end of his 2nd season and he was one of Inter's best performers(along with Balotteli). It was that same season Ibra came off the bench and won the game game to seal the scudetto against Parma(i think). His injury problems got worse after that season and he's basically been a crock the past 1.5 season. Mourinho used to start him when he was 1st took charge but quickly gave up on him.
Injuries fucked him up at Inter and sadly i can't ever see him being a fit footballer again.
A shame because he's still a good player when fit.
What the hell have you been smoking??? Vieira has been shite for Inter, and I have seen most of Inter's games in the last 4 years.... Mancio did play him a lot in the beginning, but it wasn't just his injuries that ruled Vieira out, it was also his inconsistency and his seeming intent to collect cards. You think Mancio always started him? I don't ve to check the stats mate, I watched all those games.... after the "honeymoon" period, Mancio even started prefering Dacourt over Vieira (and so did all of us)....One of the better performers for Inter my arse... he has been one of our worst over the last 4 years.
Not doubting his talent, I have seen him perform for France while being shite for Inter at the same time. Maybe as a consistent starter at City, he may discover his form... in a league he is more familiar with... but you just cannot honey coat his performances for Inter, he was shite.
A load of bollocks.
But i won't even bother going into the details. Dacourt preferred to Vieira
Vieira's apperances with Manicini in charge:
2006/2007 - 19 starts, 1 sub app.

2007/2008 - 13 starts, 3 sub app.

note: u can see on the above link that he got 3 MOTM awards in 3 of his last 8-9 appearces of the season, which strengthens my point earlier that he was one of the stand out performers towards the end of his 2nd season.
Under Mourinho:
2008/2009: 10 starts, 9 sub app.

2009/2010: 7 starts, 5 sub app.

I could have made few mistakes here and there as the counting was done in haste but u can check for yourself.
As you can see from the above he rarely started off the bench under Mancini, always started when fit. Whereas he started less games under Mourinho. And all this is exactly what i said above. Our serie A 'expert' has been pwned.
