    Hit Ronaldo - £80m
    50-50 Ibrahimovic - £65m
    Miss Kaka - £56m
    Miss Benzema - £35m
    50-50 Alonso - £30m
    50-50 Gomez - £30m
    50-50 Eto'o - £26m
    Hit Tevez - £25.5m
    MissAdebayor - £25m
    Hit Robben - £22m
No idea, though the fee looks ridiculous - who bought him? Zárate - £21m
No idea...started well but seems to have gone quiet Lopez £21m
    Miss Diego - £20m
    Hit Milito - £20m
    Miss Zhirkov - £18m
    No idea Lucho - £17.5m
    50-50 Johnson - £17.5m
    Miss Aquilani - £17m
    Miss Santa Cruz - £17m
    Hit Valencia - £16m

Best signing from the list above looks to be Milito. Worst has several contenders like Diego, Aquilani, Zhirkov, and Roque Santa Cruz...but my vote will go to the last one. At least with the first 3 they were good talented players at their previous club and the buying club/manager could reasonably expect a good player. But Santa Cruz has always been mediocre and seriously injury prone bar one good season at Blackburn, yet Hughes somehow convinced City's owners to waste 17m on him Yikes

    Question

Benzema cost more and did less.

Gomez was not a miss (more a So-so"), even when he is worth only like 15-20 mio, i would not want to miss him. Would pay again.

Pretty much agree with Kas' assessment.

The biggest flop for price paid has to be Kaka.

Well, long term I still believe he'll be a great signing. But based on how much he's played so far, and the average performances he's put in while adapting, we can't call it anything but a Miss. It's similar to the Benzema or Kaka situations though...are they worth the price tags now? No. Will they eventually be worth it? Probably, yes.

Def isn't fair to call someone a failure based on a few months of performance. I honestly can't see Kaka's style working for Real or Benzema becoming effective on that side but it's too soon to write anyone off. How can anyone be worth those prices anyway? You would need to score 5 goals a game and celebrate by shitting gold to really impress me. Ronaldo doesn't really care what group of players surround him, he is still going to show everyone why he is the best footballer in the world IMO.

As for some of those players, they have been injuried for some of the season. I haven't seen Aquilani at all, Robben and Santa Cruz have spend a good amount of time sidelined as well. Unfortunate, but that doesn't make someone a miss. Santa Cruz has scored a few times, and Robben has been good for Bayern-making those important passes, and bringing is style to Bayern. On the other hand, Gomez has scored 8 goals out of 1900000000 attempts so he's doing excellent. Rolling Eyes

I would spend 25 million to see Adebayor score and run all the way to the Arsenal fans side and celebrate in front of them! That is by far the best football moment of the season. He is free to be lazy and score own goals for the rest of the season. That was beautiful.

Anyway it's hard to be a hit for those prices people. The real hits are the teams that spend 8 million, and got top scorers, or those that spend only a one million finally aquired that decisive defender. Very Happy

Alonso hasn't been worth the money paid. De La Red looked far more promising last year (no, I'm not saying he is a better player); but Alonso hasn't settled yet.

As far as I'm concerned he's just been an extra body in midfield. Maybe RM's direct style just doesn't suit him.

On the other hand, he recovers more balls than anyone else on the team (including more than Lass - hard to believe, I know, since Xabi Alonso is not black) and is the only one of our central midfield players that can give a competent forward pass.

he hasn't, but it's stupid doing this sort of comparison after 4 months. These players are signed for 4-5 years not 4-5 months. If you'd done a similar straw poll a year ago Robinho would have been a £30m bargain, now look at him.

Why is Johnson a miss? Until his injury he was probably Liverpool's best performer this season, and possibly best right back in the league

Johnson is a miss, because he attacking qualities, doesn't fully justify, the risk that having him in your team posses defensively.

not like the alves and maicon of the FB world, so i think that 17.5m could have been better spent.

he was good early on, but his defensive short comings started to rear the ugly head before he got injured.

Milito was a mistake, it should have been a hit, he has been a better signing than eto'o so far.
