So basically you have Barca at number one but have decided to call it number two ?
Unless of course you are reserving the No1 spot for Arsenal
Barca
Real / Chelsea / United
Inter

Out of all the english sides, I think they have the most complete team and they have shown this tournament is high priority for them. They drew Inter Milan, excellent team, but just like the French teams are benefiting in Europe from the current level of competitiveness in their league-Inter is going to struggle in Europe as long as Milan/Juventus walk around like boneless idiots on the field preventing them from experiencing high levels of domestic competition.
I think even though Barca are not as good as last season, they still have enough capabilities to push for the title this season. Part of me hopes that the big two spanish giants meet up in the final, and Real rapes them but we can all dream right, lol.
As for Bayern, they have enough capabilties offensively to compete with the best but defensively I'm not convinced. They will only get better with time though, so I wouldn't rule them out.
Anyone that watched Bordeaux in group stages and in France would agree that they are the wild card this season. Should be interesting to see who they draw in the next round, because they will upset some side, I'm sure of it.

Sorry, but Barca's midfield won't be at its best unless Pep will stop playing Busquets instead of Yaya Monstor...Messiah wrote:If ibra were scoring and henry wasn't henry, i would have put us at one, since the midfield is returning to its best and the defense, i one of the best in Europe so far this season.

Why does that matter much in the CL? Get a 1-0 at home and lose 2-1 away, and they're through. Get a pair of draws and with enough away goals, they're through, etc.

I don't think league form translates to CL form. Chelsea probably are the most desperate for the CL title out of any of that group of 16. Well, Real Madrid too but they're not a good enough team yet.

Incomplete in the mind, IMO we can compete with the best out there. I guess the games with Chelsea will tell whether we can compete or not. I don't expect Inter to sleep through this one, I expect a fight.
Lessor sides have won the CL...
Me neither and especially since they missed out on Ledesma. When they struggle to keep the ball that much in Cl it isn't a coincidence. Same basic problems allthough at least they have Pandev now to add some creativity.BoBo Vieri 32 wrote:bluenine wrote:BoBo Vieri 32 wrote:kas wrote:It may seem like I always place Barça as an underdog but I always predict what I feel.

Wish i could say the same. I really want Inter to do well in the CL, but for the last few seasons i've been optimistic about them getting far only to be left disappointed. This time i'm not going to expect anything!

Yeah thats how I feel about the matter. Inter plays with such a high level of confidence domestically, that it's a real shame that they have yet to translate that into European success. I think what helps though is acquiring players like Sneijder and Eto'o who have no reason to feel insecure or question their capabilities in Europe. You need to be consistent to win the league, god knows these competitions are based on draws that could systemtically favor you or not. To draw another English Powerhouse, when there are were French, Spanish and German sides there for the picking has got to suck as well. So good luck to Inter, but def not favorites in that draw!
