I'd say a good position would have been a 1-0 home win or a 3-1 home win: 2-1 puts them in a difficult position.
Utd have the potential to play a hell of a lot better than they did, if they have one of their games then Roma are in serious trouble, esp if Roma have an off day

Still the Italians are saying that Chivu and De Rossi were average last night so they might also raise their game..

Chivu in fairness didn't have a lot to do, perhaps thats why they said he was average...
De Rossi did well defensively but nothing in the final third - maybe they expected more from him in that department....

Liverpool have to be the big favourites at the mo (at least in bookies' terms), as they're the only team all but through to the semis, and besides (I think) definitely the strongest of the English sides in Europe.
Roma impressed me hugely last night – what a wonderful, wonderful team. And fascinating flexible system without a real out-and-out striker. In praising how United got themselves out of a hole the British journalists might acknowledge the extent to which Manchester were (largely) plainly and simply outplayed...

But I still expect an entirely different return leg with Ronaldo and Rooney causing many more problems..

For that you can keep Ronaldinho.

You do realise 2-1 would see extra time and penalties?

What if Roma score? Man U will push up and leave themselves even more vulnerable at the back.
OT is hardly a fortress this season. Celtic (!) went there and scored 2.
When Sir Alex Ferguson stops bitching about the ref, he will realize that Roma have a slight advantage and this will be a tricky tie. Man U have a great chance of progressing, but if Roma play like they did at the Olimpico, then they can net at least twice. And I cannot see Man U, without Scholes, score four times against that defence.
55-45 Roma.

If Man United win the game .. and progress, it would be greeted on here as the biggest 'injustice' in the history of football
How can this English team beat this Great Italian side ? ..
Ronaldo would be key , never dived once in Rome .. they tried to bring him down in the move for the Rooney goal
