All you have to do now is to try and win some of the games in between the big ones.

I am sure Mou was watching this game very keenly
Thanks Mancio, for showing us that Chelsea can be taken at Stamford Bridge. All we have to do is give the ball to Milito/Eto'o/Pandev, and let them run at Terry

Really? Its unlikely tho, Mancio rates Tevez... he wanted Tevez at Inter at one point.
How do you think Mancio is doing so far? I think he will struggle a bit with the current squad, he needs one big spending window to add some muscle to the defence/midfield and make this team play his style.

Arsenal
01 Almunia
03 Sagna
05 Vermaelen
22 Clichy
27 Eboue
31 Campbell
04 Fabregas
08 Nasri
16 Ramsey
17 Song Billong
52 Bendtner
Substitutes
21 Fabianski, 18 Silvestre, 30 Traore, 07 Rosicky, 14 Walcott, 09 Eduardo, 12 Vela
I'd have started Rosicky with Eboue dropping back to RB, Sagna moving to LB and Clichy on the bench.
I hope we absolutely batter these fuckers, but i fully expect us to lose, unfortunately.

Because compared to previous seasons Chelsea are poor. They are vulnerable to setpieces, the defence has holes in it, and their midfield is lackluster and slow (they badly miss Essien). Take out Drogba and a lot of teams in the top half would contain and beat them.
Mancini simply can't get Man City to work. Its taken him till now I think to introduce Bellamy (citys best player earlier) into the side and without Tevez there is no-one to link midfield and attack.
Its not like they played well going forward today. They won because Chelsea's defence was shocking. The fact they couldn't keep the ball when playing against 9 men is something of an indictment against the way Mancini has them playing.

It's amazing how our defence has suddenly become our weakest facet. Under Mourinho and Hiddink, and even Grant (we'll ignore Scolari's part because we weren't great defensively then either) our defence was what we based most of our plays on. Because we were strong defensively we were able to win games 1-0 or 2-0, just by shutting out the other team.
But right now we seem to be trying to outscore the other team, just because our defence is a complete mess, especially from set plays.

How surprising. An early goal for Stoke, from a Delap throw in. Typical Arsenal defending, how pathetic.

Who said we would? Matching Stoke's intensity in this match wouldn't go amiss though. Every time we play them at their place we give them a perfect start.
1-1 now though. Our first decent spell of pressure and Bendtner scores an excellent header.

I am not too surprised. Ancelotti never focuses on defence like Mou does, its a different football philosophy. With Carlo, its about control of the midfield and tempo. You will see better possession of the ball, something I see improving in Chelsea already. For eg, tonight with 9 men, if it was Mou's team you would ve played very differently, relying more on counters.
Over a few years, if Ancelotti is still around, you can expect a very different Chelsea than you are used to... I personally don't rate him as much as most people seem to, coz I think his teams don't know how to win ugly.

Good penalty shout for Arsenal. Ramsey bundled into from behind. Not clear-cut either way, so the referee playing on wasn't surprising.

Re: Premier League Discussion 27/28 Feb 2010
There is only that much Ancelotti can do with this current bunch because it is a squad designed from Mourinho's philosophy and the team simply isn't up to playing like Ancelotti wants. They have improved in terms of keeping the ball but I can't see them doing much progress beyond this. Ancelotti has barely been able to make his imprint on this team. A couple of midfielders and perhaps a striker then we will see some change.bluenine wrote:Ballack wrote:It's amazing how our defence has suddenly become our weakest facet. Two match suspension for Song now. Nonsense decision from the referee. Arsenal are very much in the ascendancy, but that means little when Stoke are so capable of scoring goals with their rare forays forward.

Red card for Shawcross, I didn't see what happened though. Arsenal players look sickened, so it could be a bad one for Ramsey.
