What you say is true...but there is a difference between tackling hard but fairly, and tackling with thoughts of "let him know you're there".

Just as there's a difference between tackling and kicking people (though Robbie Savage never worked this out).
Yesterday's incident was a hard but fair tackle, with a 50-50 ball Shawcross had every right to challenge for. He didn't go in high, two-footed, or with his studs up. He didn't jump or lunge into the tackle. He didn't go over the top of the ball. It's the sort of challenge you see in virtually every game without it resulting in a broken leg.
However, because it did result in a broken leg, and because it was the media-savvy Arsenal team whose player had his leg broken, it will be turned into a debate and a discussion about nothing whatsoever. Puro will use it to push his anti-English agenda, Arsenal fans will use it to push their 'we're victims of our own ability' agenda, I'll use it to push my 'kick Arsenal players wherever you find them' agenda.
So in fact, what the hell am I complaining about?

I'm watching a replay of the Wolves Bolton match, and Wolves has to be one of the unluckiest teams, been watching for a few minutes, its 1-0 Bolton, but in a span of minutes Wolves have hit the post twice, one hit the inside of the post and some how didn't go in, plus they've had two good penalty calls turned down.

Interesting squad by Moyes, Anichebe had some decent performances last season as right midfielder, Donovan definitely needed a rest.TEAMS Tottenham v Everton

Everton squad looks pretty strong now some of the injuries back. That's a good bench.

The Professor wrote:TheCrazy58 wrote:What Pulis (maybe purposely) does not seem to understand is that Wenger does not in any way imply that Shawcross deliberately broke Ramsey's leg. Of course he didn't. What he takes issue with is that the opposition - especially one-trick ponies like Stoke - are without doubt encouraged to be physical with us as that is the most effective (and often the only) way they can try and play us. If what happened today and with Eduardo and Diaby doesn't back it up I don't know what will.
And for those of you arguing it was not worthy of a red card, let's see what you say when it happens to one of your players.
And Shawcross has a history of being a reckless tackler.
He injured Adebayor last season through one of his late tackles, he was not going to get the ball but he just followed through, went through in a similar fashion against Cesc few weeks ago in the FA cup but Cesc was lucky to escape.
Broke Francis Jeffers' ankle 3 years ago as well. He may not be a malicious player but that's a bad record.

I don't remember anyone giving a shit when Cattermole launched himself into Beye's ankle. It wasn't even repeated on MOTD.

Everton goal: Well, Heurelho Gomes has been having one of those days and it has finally caught up with him. Deep corner from the left is headed back across by Jack Rodwell and Gomes flaps at it under pressure from Victor Anichebe. Yakubu is left to tap in only his third goal of the season.
I look forward to MOTD tonight.

Liverpool: Reina, Mascherano, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Benayoun, Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Babel, Insua, Ngog, Kelly, Ayala.
He did well as RB against Everton... but still, it's quite surprising.

I'd be surprised if that's correct...it's probably Maxi at RB rather than Mascherano.

What a shocking miss from Donovan. Open goal at the far post from two yards out and he put it into the side netting. Huge let-off for Spurs.

Damn Tottenham's defence sucks. It has been soo easy this half for Everton. They aren't controlling the game at all. Every attack from Everton seems to lead to some chance.

Just looking at the rest of the BBC text.
1318: Yikes. Heurelho Gomes catches then drops a cross, allowing Yakubu a shot on goal, but luckily for Gomes, there are too many Spurs defenders in the way. Also, think Yakubu was understandably a bit shocked to be gifted the ball.
1326: Shortly after Niko Kranjcar heads straight at the keeper, another howler by Heurelho Gomes. The Spurs keeper allows a cross to go straight through his hands, but there's no Everton player behind to take advantage. He needs treatment for an elbow injury now.

Nah it's Mascherano, he's filled in there before and its only for this one game.
Torres starting is a surprise, Rafa should have rested him really, because now Spain will start him and he will get injured again. We really should be able to beat Blackburn at home without risking him.
Aquilani doesn't get a start even though Mascherano is playing right back, getting sold in the summer i suppose.

Re: Premier League Discussion 27/28 Feb 2010
Game over. I feel we deserved a point today, but we didn't deserve a one at Goodison, so realistically Tottenham deserved getting 5 points from games against us.
I really enjoy watching Spurs this season, probably my favorite team to watch in PL this season, they just have right combination of pace, strength, attacking mindset and finesse in their game for my taste.
Our late race for 4th place is officially over.

Agree with everything you said(again ). Im glad Tottenham won because I had money on them but Everton had no problems playing past their midfield.Moyes has collected some good attacking players but what would you say is Evertons best line up? Neville Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Arteta Fellaini
Billyaletdinov Cahill Pienaar
Yakubu or Saha
with Mucha, Distin, Yobo, Hibbert, Gosling, Rodwell, Osman, Anichebe, Vaughan and Yakubu or Saha on the bench.
Would prefer somebody better than Neville as RB (Baines type) and would like to see us buying Donovan (or somebody similar)... but since we don't have any money to spend, it won't probably happen. Unless somebody will throw a big money for Fellaini or Rodwell.
