Seriously, have you ever played football Kas? It's a natural movement when you're going full pelt into a blocking challenge.
I do not think it was intentional on Carragher's part. When he goes in for challenge he always goes in 110%.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why a penalty was given. You're certainly asking for trouble by doing that especially with the garbage ref we were handed. But I do not think it was intentional.
I'm sorry, I just don't agree with you. It's a blatant handball...not a visible hand-to-ball movement, but there's nothing "natural" about having your arm that high. Normally when you raise your arm it's to block your face. Carragher is not blocking his face. And what does the "110%" cliched bullshit have to do with this? By raising his arm high, he's giving 110%?
Here are two angles:
45 second mark:
2:33 mark:
And no, of course I've never played football. I thought it's only something that people watch on TV or play on the Playstation
Well I'll agree to disagree. I don't think it was in Carragher mind in the slightest to block the cross with his hand and when you go full out like that there is a tendency for the hands to be high.
As for the latter bit, my question was an honest question I believe their quite a few people here who like to talk football and support whoever is successful yet never see their team play live as well as do not play any proper football. Whether you think I'm talking about you eh it's your call...

Re: Europa League - Semi Finals
Carragher is a donkey
This he has proven beyond all doubt in the past few seasons with endless penalties, own goals, hoofs etc. It is no coincidence that his best run of defending came at right back this season when he couldn't get into our box to cause any damage to us. Ade unfortunately is mistaking commitment with having a brain. A good defender does not commit himself the way Carragher did last night and certainly not with his hand failing out as high and wide as his was.
Still disgusted about the Babel red card. I assume the ref justified it as 'serious foul play' in his after match report. What else can he base it on ? If so he should be castrated. Thankfully everyone in the club has come out in support of Babel and not crucified him for it.

I cant say anyone i spoke to cares much about Liverpool or thier plight.
There is NO sympathy out there from Chelsea, Arse, Man Utd or any other fans i spoke to.
I think the genenral feeling are Pool are a bit of a joke club with a joke manager and joke players!
The keep slipping every year down the ranks of credibilty.
Most people just hate the scouse connection i think...tad tricky when the club is based in Liverpool.

I didn't notice him until he fell over trying to pass the ball near the end.

The Carragher pen was his own stupidity. You just cant have your hands that far in the air. The other pen was probably right also though they're 50/50 if you get them. The red card was a disgrace i hope fifa install some sort of training program where refs are not allowed to potentially ruin a game on such small matters.

Just seen fulham wolfsburg game. Second goal by the cottagers was superb. What an excellent little footballing side. If they can turn over the german champions then roy will almost certainly be epl manager of the year. Bobby zamora has got to be ahead of heskey and carlton cole for the big man option upfront for england. Also saw hamburg against standard , excellent game. Standard look like a very decent side, very unfortunate not to have got a draw in the first leg. Noticed that hamburg use viva la Vida by coldplay when they score. Those hamburgers are crazy

Benfica missed to many chances (same as against Marselha)
Very poor referee. Bad decisions all around. Both penalties are clear cut (Carragher was lucky when he hit Cardozo with a high foot)
Hopefully Saviola will be back for the second leg, but it seems very doubtful.
The only plus side is that Liverpool will have to be more attack minded in Anfield, and that may suit Benfica.
Still 50/50 tough
The fireworks are a stupid fucking joke. There always some moron that manages to take them inside the stadium. I can see a hefty fine from UEFA, at the very least

He, pique and kjaer are the three best young defenders in Europe right now IMO.

Don't be silly Ade. Luiz was excellent against Torres. Torres got him one on one during the second half and very rarely does Torres come out of a situation like that defeated but Luiz managed to stand him up and had the pace to just stay with Torres and make the tackle. It was a shock because I'm so used to Torres gliding past every defender he comes across in that situation. Strong, quick and comfortable on the ball. He looked the part, but let's see how he copes at Anfield.
Luisao on the other hand deserved about five red cards
