I think Fulham have shown everyone that the EPL outside the top four is a lot stronger than people thought anyhow ok

In terms of their squad I'd say they're about 10th strongest in the league.

They're the first team to do it from a position of being considered very much mid-table and having not spent much at all on players though.

Yourselves and Boro were both quite big spenders at the time and were established Waffa teams.

It's nothing miraculous though. They're still bigger spenders than the likes of Espanyol who got the final 3-4 seasons back on a shoestring budget.

I do like Fullham tho, and fair play to them for getting so far, though they've ridden their luck a little, for example in that Shaktar game, they have humbled the likes of Juve and Wolfsburg.

Reminds me of 1988. PSV winning the CL. Von Bommel & Robben are PSV. Van Persie, just like van Basten, just in time back from injury.

and the odds are 14/1, which is Cruyff's number.

Fulham deserve the support bless them. They are the only club in the land with a "neutral" section at the ground where home/away fans and tourists from China can sit and help fill up the empty seats.

The Hamburglers are the villains of this piece - the Goliath club which has played in a number of European finals against the semi final virgins,

a team probably paying more in wages to Van Horseface than Fulham's entire wage bill,

and whose purpose to Germans like Ozil and Otto is merely the efficient accumulation of coefficient points to commence global domination.

What a romantic story that brings to the competition: Hamburg in the final and thereby increasing the sales of calculators back in the Fatherland Rolling Eyes Ale

Hamburg are a mess these days, Fulham a well oiled, cute, cuddly, likeable machine. Hamburg are evil, Fulham are good. It's no contest really.

Still, going by my calculations, Hamburg will sneak this one. Hearts are there to be broken, it's inevitable.

As proven last night, evil always wins.

Personally, I just want to see a good game. If Fulham can play to their potential they stand a chance - I was at the FA Cup quarter final at White Hart Lane a few months ago and they played us off the park in the first half. Pointless hoofers they are not. They have some very clever players, particularly in midfield.

Hamburg will be a very tough Plätzchen, they looked good against the Belgians in the last round.

    Prediction : 3-2 Hamburg

    Hurry up Kick-off

I'm predicting a goal fest tonight. I just hope it isn't triggered by Aguero and Forlan against Carra and the Greek.

    Nah

    More of a spectacle innit

It would be great to beat the loveable germans in their own stadium. Playing Fulham in a european final would be bizarre but I'll obviously be happy either way.

    What an interesting team.

Gerrard playing as a deep lying midfielder is very bizarre. Will he have the discipline to remain there?

Masch at right back - no reason why that shouldn't work

Good to see Yossi Benajew in there.

It's time for Super Kuyt to deliver the magic Ale

I hope not. Two midfielders doing exactly this has been destroying us all season. There is no risk of Gerrard being disciplined tonight Wink

Losing Johnson's runs from the right is a big blow but we'll see how it goes. This is finally Aqua's big chance to prove he can break up the Lucas / Masch partnership.
