BBC say this is now a done deal. What do Villa, Spurs and Liverpool fans think - should it have been allowed so late in the season?

Don't they have any youth team goalkeepers fit?

If the Faroe Island keeper is the only fit goalkeeper they have available at the club then fair enough, otherwise it seems unfair to me. If the don't have any faith in the options they have they should have signed other players during the transfer windows.

We can always drive Fabianski up to Eastlands Smiley

I agree. Though there's an element of bad luck in both Given and Taylor being injured at the same time, they do have Mr Faroe Islands in their squad. If they're getting Fulop he should be on the bench.

It says a damn lot about the "standards" that Given has set that the only 'keeper who was happy backing him up is the Faroe Islands no.2... Coat

It's not as if Nielsen is a kid though, he's 23. They can't have any complaints. He'll be better than Stuart Taylor by any means.

Villa did this once, although it was in the middle of the season. Hopefully whoever City get drops a massive clanger as Kiraly did for us Doh

It is a bit iffy though, I think when we did it, our only option was some 19 yr old in the youth team who never played anywhere. This guy at City is 23 and an international Whistle

Gunnar Nielsen must have had plenty of practise of picking the ball out of the net. Except when the Faroe Islands played Scotland of course.

Doesn't bother me as I think Given is a big loss anyway.

What I don't get is why can't clubs get an emergency defender/midfielder/striker then? Liverpool need one for thursday with Torres, Kuyt and Ngog all being unavailable possibly.

You have Nabil el Zhar. He's got 8 caps for Morocco.

    Oh he's MD, sorry.

You got Gerrard, Babel, El Zhar, Pacheco. You can cobble together some kind of frontline.

You can't really shift someone into goal, unless you've got Phil Jags handy.

I'm sure they have reserve and youth goal-keepers.

Fulop is he even any good? If I was Nielsen I would be upset.

I didn't read the title properly and thought for a second that City had signed Berbatov on loan

Surely Fulop will be behind Nielsen. Nielsen is a good young kepper, he's only 23. He'll become better for the chance he gets!

Apparently they're now asking about getting Hart back.

Well it certainly now seems that City have got the dispensation to sign a keeper, and judging by Fulop's comments here he would definitely go to City. I would have thought that he would be first choice there ahead of Nielsen, but i dont know how i feel about these emergency loans. Were Chelsea allowed one earlier in the season when Cech and Cudicini were both injured? City must have a bunch of young keepers at the club they could call on.

signing Fulop on loan doesn't really meet with he ambition of other signings. He's a bit of a nomark you would have thought they'd be after Reina or someone like that.

Portsmouth or West Ham could do with some cash so what about offering them a few pennies for David James or Robert Green, it would be nice for them to get some competitive football before the World Cup.

Liverpool did the same with Paul Jones back in 2004 when Dudek and Kirkland were injured. I don't have a problem with it, I'm sure Birmingham could ask for a couple of million to release Hart.

For them, it would have more sense to let him go now (even for free), but making sure City agree to loan him out to them also for next season.
Also, rumour is that Boruc is in the mix too for a short term loan.
