has we all know the idiot Sepp has been talking about how he will be COMMAND every top flight league in the World(that is Spain,italy and england) to reduce their respective league to 16 teams. he supposedly wants to cut down each league to 18 my 2008. what i would like to no is do you think this is a good thing and if so what would be the criteria for the 1 team which will go down(the 3 relegated team would have been taken out already) would it just be the bottom 4 are some other criteria a mean suppose say a team like spurs, Lazio are Depor has a bad season i know they wouldn't down silently. And if No state the reason why you disagree

18 team league would be tough for the 1st season on the 2 extra teams who go down, but long term I do see Blatter's point, and I (reluctantly due to a reduction of top flight matches we can watch) would agree with it.

I agree with it, but, instead of relegating extra teams only, I think, depending on the size of the league, maybe 1 extra relegated and 1 less promoted.

I think 18 is the best, but I don't necessarily mind 20, even if the calender is too full.

20 must be kept in England, because there are about 30 top class teams with big stadiums, fanbase and history. Sepp just wants to make more money frm International and CL matches the dirty bastard.

I suppose the same would go for a country like Germany then. They have higher attendances than England. Some countries are smaller though and have less supporters. Spain is less than half the population of Germany and somewhat less than England. Some of the lower teams would not necessarily be missed.
There's nothing wrong with restructuring the European calender though. At the moment the division CL-UEFA Cup is a little bit silly, I think. Maybe there should be a European qualification tournament before the CL. The real stage of the CL then starts in the late winter, early spring. The latter stages would then be played in the early season following that, when the smaller teams start playing the CL qualifiers. How about that?

Serie A was much better when it had 18 teams... I would welcome a move back, less games a season but more quality as players would be less tired.
Not sure about 16, but its does make sense. Players seem to get worn out too fast these days. With 16 teams in each league, the squads will be smaller, and the smaller teams will get a chance to have better players.

This may be a reason why Italian clubs are not as dominating in the Champions league as they used to be.
