Players have been made powerful by the astronomical wages they get. Cristiano Ronaldo thinks he is the second coming of Superman. There isn't really much a manager can do to change this. With a situation like with Rooney it is tough as you want to keep the player at all costs. With someone like Balotelli you just say, fuck it, off you go then.
