Disagree that Barca would want Cole.

For me, barca's best players are Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Puyol who are all small or small for their position.

However I think Abidal, Yaya Toure, Busquets, Pique and even Henry/Ibra were important for Barca because they gave them some real size/muscle in other positions to balance this out - they are obviously not as good as the players I mentioned but important as they can be the difference between conceding from a set piece or not etc.

I would rather have Abidal in barca's team than Cole and lets face it he is so overrated by our media anyway.

It makes me wince when you hear pundits say "great tackle from the world's best left back" in such a matter of fact way - not even "in my opinion" tagged on to the end of it.

I never hear Evra being called world's best LB by the press but I'd love someone to tell me how he is an inferior player to Cole.

Cole is one of the best but this is more due to the fact that there aren't many good ones and he is a very average footballer.

Cole's been in much better nick than Evra for the better part of 18 months now + he has improved so much on the ball IMO... Still horribly 1-footed mind.

I think he is the best LB (until Evra gets his 2007-09 form back)

I would take Cole at Barça but Abidal is an underrated player. He's not very good as a CB, and not the most creative of LBs, but has excellent physical attributes and with him at LB our system works perfectly because he is comfortable tucking in to form a 3-4-3 when we have the ball, with Alves pushing forward on the right. And he has a good personality too - humble and quiet guy, won't lash out or get silly cards, won't cause any drama.
