Michael Laudrup for one is heavily underrated?? -- his passion for creating goals for his teammates and not get many for himself, may lose him some votes - Michel Platini for one described him 'one of the most talented players ever' only criticising him for his lack of selfishness causing him to score too few goals..

He has won BIG trophies for his clubs and Best Foreign Player in Spanish Football the last 25 years (1974-1999)

Unlike ZZ he has not won in the World Stage (Individual awards)..

You could even do it in 2 areas.

Defensive midfielder - Matthaus
Attacking midfielder - Zidane

Defensive Midfielders - As much As I'd love to say Mauro Silva, Matthaus wins it.

I think Effenberg and Matthaus have been up there with the best, certainly in the top 10, but Zidane will probably be remembered as one of the three greatest players of all time alongside Beckenbauer and Jancker.

I believe it is Zidane as well. As i cant remember a player having as much of an impact in the big big games as he has.

The World cup 2nd round/quarter final and semi in this world cup.

Players are judged on their performances when it really matters againsyt the top teams. This, for example, is what many believe is what is holding rooney back from being world class. I agreee, and going by this, i believe Zidane is the top man. When he was at the peak of his powers, he achieved everything a player could.

I'm sure theres many other big games where Zidane has performed, but i think they're the main ones.

Maradona > Zidane.
