The whole city has gone mental over their first European encounter in ages. Kinda happy for them.

I'm surprised how well they've started this season. Last year they did well by making sure that the tight games and the fine margins went in their favour and I thought they'd struggle to sustain that this year (especially if they end up playing numerous European matches), but they're showing the value of a settled team that has a cohesive style of play. As you say, it's good to see.

Slomka is a very underrated manager. I remember how he managed to reach the CL 1/4 finals with a very limited Schalke side. Totally idiotic by the Orcs to sack him prematurely, could have build a legacy there.
Schalke's loss is Hannover's gain though.

The key for Hannover is the very aggressive pressing in midfield. They put a lot of pressure on Sevilla and win the ball there often. Still need to be more precise on the break, could create more chances.
Great atmosphere in the stadium.

Seems like Trochowski wants to make an impression. Guess he speculates that Löw watches the match, too.

Kanoute levels for Sevilla. Hannover opened up and he walked it in. Looks like the left-back just played the forwards onside.

What a pity that he never truly fullfilled his potential. I remember that legendary goal he scored against us, or the Pokal match against Bayern when Aachen knocked them out. Should have never moved to München...

Spurs 3 up in Scotland after 30 minutes. 2 beautiful goals. Very impressed as this was hyped as potentially being a tough game given our injuries, the rivalry and us not having played a competitive game yet, but we ve been excellent. And youth player jake Livermore has scored and looked very good

Hearts 0-3 Spuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs
tough luck on Hearts who will be knocked out by one of the best teams in the tournament, perhaps the world.
Jermaine Defoe needs to take more snatch-shots into the back of opposition defenders legs, sooner or later it's going to fall nicely for one of the 5/6 players who make a bee-line for the penalty spot whenever the ball is in the final third.
Lennon looks good. Tottenham don't need Modric, they have a myriad of creative talent in Krancjaer, Huddlestone, VDV, Kaboul, Pienaar, Bentley etc. Take the money and sign a striker. Berbatov or Jelavic.

Well done Hannover.
Still going to be a tough ask to get a result in Spain, but it was an impressive performance today against a side with plenty of European pedigree and experience. The second half was rather dull though.

Hannover - Sevilla 2-1 FT
Good win for Hannover. That goal they conceded could cost them though. Looking forward to the second leg, should be interesting.

Could be a tough year for Germany in Europe. Pity Hannover had to meet Sevilla this early. They should both obviously be in the group stage at least. Great game by Hannover today.
Schalke is a disgrace and we'll have to see what inexperienced teams like Dortmund and Leverkusen can achieve in the CL. Guess that's one of the potential downsides of parity in the domestic league. You don't always have the same experienced teams play internationally. No biggie though as long as we can hold on to the #3 spot for a few years.

I agree. Could be an awful season for us in Europe and the competitiveness of the Bundesliga actually hurts us in Europe.
I read that UEFA plans to give 4 CL spots to the four best ranked countries in future (maybe Hoeness was on to something when he mentioned the Italian influence at UEFA...), so we should be pretty safe regardless.

Spurs win 5-0 in Scotland.
Really good performance, especially from the young home-grown players Livermore and Townsend.
If anyone wants to watch some really good goals then you should watch the highlights.
Kudos to the Hearts fans who both clapped the spurs team off at half time and also singing "we re gonna win 6-5" near the end. scotch have always had good sense of humour and sportsmanship

Not sure we can call Livermore a youth player anymore.
He's born in 1989, same age as Bale and Sandro.
They all have to be registered as seniors this season.
Good to see him doing well though, we need club trained players and it seems he can at least play a part as a squad player

Harry Kane starts for Spurs tonight- 17 yr old striker with a burgeoning reputation at youth club and international level.
Tom Carroll and Fredericks also starting, both England U17 representatives.
This truly is going to be Arrys babes tonight, hope it doesnt backfire.
Will be interesting from a Spurs / England point of view how they get on, particularly Kane given there is a dearth of quality strikers at Spurs and in the England team as well.
