Great player.People go on about Ryan Giggs but Zanetti is a few months older and has played a lot more minutes than Giggs the last few years.Plus everybody knows Giggs is a scumbag now,I can't imagine Zanetti doing what Giggs did in his personal life.

Dude, if you hate Man United so much, just stay away from them

You've given an impression as if you are a man who just being dumped by his life long girlfriend, in this case you are 'the man' and Man United is the 'girl'. You just keep talking 'bad things' about her while she doesn't give a damn about you

One player we haven't thanked enough - Samuel had Ibra in his pocket the whole game. The wall has been the main man behind our resurgence in the last month or two. We have stopped shipping goals mainly due to his masterclass.

We are so going to miss him when he retires. Ranocchia is talented, but he is not half the defender Samuel is.

Must also credit all 4 CB's playing yesterday. Thiago was brilliant, easily the best Milan player IMO. Nesta & Lucio did well too. 4 legendary defenders, its sad that 3 of them are going to retire soon... Football won't be the same when they are gone, they don't make defenders like these anymore.

Ye Samuel,Nesta and Lucio are all great defenders,Nesta was probably the best out of the 3 though,IMO best CB since Baresi.Lucio and Samuel are up there with the best CBs in the last 15 years.Haven't watched enough of Thiago Silva yet to judge how good he is.

Nesta was an amazing defender, like you said - the best since Baresi, but he is no longer the player he used to be. Samuel is still up there, and Thiago might just be the best CB in the world right now.

Its almost like Nesta is passing the baton to Thiago.

I am "staying away from them",I am in the European League section and I didn't even mention Man United once,I mentioned Ryan Giggs because he is the same age as Zanetti and there careers are comparable in many ways.He slept with his brothers wife for 8 years FFS,even if he was a Liverpool player I would still call him scum because he is a disgusting human being. It's not like it was a one of fling,8 years ! He obviously didn't feel any remorse.

I know he is 35 though! Not everyone can be Zanetti haha

But he can still produce performances like this,he is just less consistent.

I don't want to sound too gay now but he is so elegant on and off the ball.Sheer Class <Ale>

Pretty amazing stat about Milan from Zonal Marking:

    '...against the top six they’re P5 W0 D2 L3, against everyone else they’re P13 W11 D2 L0.'

Its a good point, shows exactly where Milan need to improve. Actually, in this aspect, Inter are still worse than Milan. Italy this season has a top 7, and this is a mini-table I made for comparison:

    ---------- Pts - P -W -D -L - Gf - Ga
    1 Juv -- 12 -- 6 - 3 - 3 - 0 - 9 -- 5
    2 Nap - 11 -- 6 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 12 - 7
    3 Udi --- 9 --- 6 - 2 - 3 - 1 - 6 -- 5
    4 Laz --- 6 --- 5 - 1 - 3 - 1 - 6 -- 6
    5 Mil ---- 5 --- 6 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 7 -- 11
    6 Rom - 5 --- 6 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 7 -- 9
    7 Int ---- 4 --- 5 - 1 - 1 - 3 - 2 -- 6

Inter were really shite before yesterdays result. Now if we beat Lazio, we will start to look decent in this table.

This also reinforces the old saying that Serie A is always won or lost in games against the provincial sides, top of the table clashes do not mean that much. Milan may be poor against the top teams, but they are still favourites for the scudetto.

Another interesting point is that all of Juve's big games have come away from home so far (apart from their game against Milan). Shows how well they have done on their travels this season.

Napoli are great against good teams, there formation is built for counter attacking...hope they knock Chelsea out of the CL.

I think Samuel has done very well to come back from 2 serious knee injuries and still perform at a very high level, even at his age. Shame that he is not fully appreciated by this board.

I guess he is not appreciated enough outside Serie A mostly coz of his time at Real... But if I have to rank the top defenders of the last decade, Samuel will be right up there with Nesta.

He was the unsung hero of your CL win I think,if you ask people who was the best CB that season most people would say Lucio but I think Samuel was better(Lucio was still 2nd best that season and was best CB in the world cup).Samuels positioning is just perfect, the amount of last ditch challenges against Chelsea and Barca in the CL stand out for me.I think the season he played at Real there whole defense was a mess it weren't just his fault.

Couldn't really find that many good videos of him but I found this one of the Inter vs Barca game where you get to see how good his positioning is.

    http://www.metacafe.com/watch/7926591/xavi_vs_inter/

Found another good one as well.

Congrats to Inter! Well played...though Allegri insists that Inter only defended but given the period Inter was coming off, the result matters more than attractive football. Extremely important win for Inter not only because it puts them within sniffing distance of the top 4 but more so from the morale point of view...the bragging rights etc.

But unfortunately not a single word of praise for Ranieri so far! I know that many on this board don't regard him highly and especially Inter fans Smile I mean it is 5 wins in a row and if I read it correctly with just one goal conceded in these 5! Did the Inter team suddenly rediscover their otherwise torn apart morale over a mug of beer? Had not many Inter fans written off CL for next year. C'mon, give some credit where it is due.

Ranieri is doing very well in recovery, just like he did at Roma and Juve before. Complete credit to him for bringing back our defensive masterclass. From being the worst defense in Serie A in the first 10 games, to being the best defense in Italy in the last 6 games, its been quite a turnaround.

But I never said Ranieri wasn't a good coach, specially when it comes to rebuilding sides. He is perfect for Inter at the mo. My doubts regarding Ranieri surface when you have to win titles... but we don't have to worry about that till next season.

If Ranieri makes us finish in the top 3, it would be a remarkable turnaround from 17th place where Gasp left us Smile Inter were at one stage 15 points off the leaders, now we are just 6 points behind after winning our last 6 games. If we beat Lazio next weekend, we can actually start dreaming...
