It's kinda sad that the Carling Cup final is the 3rd most interesting fixture on Sunday (and even Stoke-Swansea could give interesting contrast in styles).

That said it's better than all of Saturday's fixtures..

The Carling Cup final clashes with the rugby and is therefore irrelevant.

    Indeed.

Just hope we don't do an Arsenal and fuck up our best chance of a trophy in years.

Delighted to be back in a cup final; don't care if it just the Carling Cup, it's where Liverpool belong and we've had to play full strength Stoke, Chelsea and City teams to get here so it hasn't been easy by any means.

Win on sunday, hopefully get to Wembley again for the semis of the FA cup and pull off a massive win over Arsenal next week at Anfield and our season could be very interesting.

I'm going to the game this weekend and I'm actually quite confident. Being the underdog in this game will suit us. The fans will get behind the team for sure, and i'm sure the team will react.

I can't even imagining losing this game this weekend so I think we'll win 2-1. Can't wait cheers

If Van Persie doesn't have a good game can't see where Arsenal's threat will come from.

Spurs have far more players with the ability to hurt you; Bale, Adebayor, VDV, Modric

If Spurs perform they will win this game.

RVP is the main threat no doubt but if Spurs open up which I expect them to do, there'll be space for the likes of Gervinho and AOC to exploit.

It's not as straight forward as you think. If Koscielny makes it back to partner Vermaelen, i'm confident.

    If Djourou plays, we're fucked.

    @ Crazy58

Even some of the worst Spurs teams that I've ever had the displeasure to witness still managed to eek out a result in the NLD at home; the team that finished 14th with 45pts and a minus 10 GD in 2003-04 still got a draw at home against the invincible's (it was enough to win you the league, but still)

    --------------------K Keller

    S Kelly----A Gardner---------- L King------ M Taricco

    S Davies-----M Brown--------J Redknapp-----J Jackson

    -----------F Kanoute--------- R Keane

What you have iss still far better than that crap. Henry & Pires outscored the Spurs team on their own that year! Sad

There is a difference between doggedly average teams and a one with pretensions to superiority (which we still are, for some reason against all evidence available). The former are used to taking a battering and know about damage limitation. We don't. If the opponent get on top of us we capitulate.

As TheCrazy58 says, limited though that team was, they did try to disrupt Arsenal and make it a battle. I'm not sure our current side has that in them to make life difficult for better teams.

Plus, I always got the impression that Arsenal could have won that game at WHL if they had kept their focus. They completely outplayed Spurs in the first half and then coasted through the second half safe in the knowledge that they were going to become champions. I don't think they would have let you back into the game if that was just a step on the way to the title. It also relied on a Crazy Jens moment in injury time to rescue you the point as well!

Romford Pele, I worry that if it is an open game with lots of space, Spurs are going to be better equipped to exploit it. I'm not confident of us getting anything out of the match tomorrow.

Big game for Chelsea today; dropped points and it's surely the end for AVB.

Don't think players like Drogba are really assed at the moment; he probably wants AVB to go.

Hopefully (and I say this after every managerial sacking) this will be the end of Abramovich's meddling with the football side of the club. This current crop of players couldn't win the Champions League in their prime, let alone win it now.

The squad needs a complete overhaul. Cech is fine - will never be as good as he was pre-Stephen Hunt - but is solid enough and I can't see us getting a better keeper on the cheap. Essien is still young enough but has had too many serious injuries. Sadly I think we may have seen the best of him. Luiz isn't good enough to be a CB at this level. Personally I'd keep AVB and start building a new team around Cech, Ramires, Mata and Sturridge. But sadly I think Abramovich will sack AVB and the new manager will continue to select Lampard, Terry, Drogba etc next season.

Like Pinto is rated at Barcelona I imagine. He seems content to just sit on the bench all season, playing the occasional Carling Cup game. He's done alright whenever he's played, without ever looking spectacular.
