He played well, as I wrote repeatedly myself. But captain material he is not and never was. Besides, I've always supported the idea of making a central midfielder captain, that position with most influence on the pitch.

Congrats to Bayern fans, as a neutral I feel they absolutely deserved it over two legs. Even at the Bernabeu, they played their game and dug themselves out of a pretty big hole after the first 15 mins.
I hope they go on to win it, they've been brilliant in this year's CL, dominating the group of death and getting to the final, eliminating one of the two huge favourites in the process.
Great team, wish them all the best.

I think i've said it already but Kroos was very good. His decision making, passing and positioning was excellent. He is gonna be a top midfielder.
Congrats Bayern it was deserved.

I only saw the second half but Bayern impressed me mightly. I was disappointed by them in the first leg and I was wondering if I had overhyped them but they showed that they are certainly a top class team. They bossed us at home at least in the second half. I thought we did well in extra time but too many times when we got a counter Ronaldo or Kaka botched it horribly. I knew they would go through somehow but didn't expect them to dominate in this fashion.
Congrats to the Bayern fans
Most exciting semi's I have seen in a while.
For the final I'm putting my money on Chelsea. They have the momentum even with those players out. They can survive without Terry+Ivanovic and they can play Mikel-Lampard(I know) in midfield and then they have Drogba who will be their big player.

The good news for the Real fans, at least the "progress" faction, is that Mourinho will very likely stay. He won't leave until he wins the decima. Winning the league will be a first step to topple Barcelona's dominance in Spain.

Yeah I was a bit afraid he might leave if we won the cl although I strongly believe Chelsea will win whether it is Bayern or if it had been Real in the final. Now he will probably stay. I'm already hearing Real Madrid fans who are saying this would have been an easy win and I think they are dead wrong and they misjudging the momentum. Plus Drogba would have run riot considering what Gomez did. Anyway I got my birthday gift with us winning the league and Barca going out in that fasion.

So Khazars>>>>>UEFA Classico Final fix, No?
Still, a depleted Chelsea vs a depleted Bayern in Munich for a final
I swear to god, Bayern knew in the last minutes of the ET, that they would win the penalties.
But to be fair Bayern deserved it more, Mourinho is great in grinding results. But not great in forming a footballing midfield. Created fuck all in the second half, which wasnt as good as the first. As for Ronaldo, yes he finally scored in big matches, but he failed to score when it really, really mattered.
Anyway, at least Madrid won their semi-final match at home

What a game indeed, it really had everything.
Has there ever been a disappointing Real-Bayern tie? I can't remember at least. As Sid Lowe wrote the other day, the only true international club rivalry with huge tradition. Although it seems like Barcelona and Chelsea are slowly but surely creating their own.

Nah, what's to be nervous about in the summer. It will only bring misery like every other football competition ever invented. I no longer fear misery.
ps, I don't quite understand your Germanic, does Schalker Jung mean someone who steps forward early to gain an illegal advantage?

First and foremost, congratulations to the Bayern supporters. Over the two legs you are deserving finalists and I hope you can do what we could not two years ago and win the trophy in your own stadium.
I had to leave rather abruptly at the end of the 90 minutes to attend to a personal matter so I've only just seen the conclusion but even then I did not have a good feeling. Going up 2-0 after 15 minutes and then trying to defend the lead for the rest of the match was never going to work. We should have continued to push while Bayern was on the back foot to make the third goal and really kill the tie. But Bayern weather the storm and after the 2-1 it was clear that Jose did not want to risk a second away goal. If it was not Jose's plan to be so conservative he should have been telling the players to go for it. But the longer it went there was even less chance of us taking risks because there would not have been time to score twice if Bayern had nicked another goal themselves.
We still have to find a way to come to grips with midfield. Once again we were bossed on our own pitch. I said earlier after the first clasico in the league that we would not win against a really good side with our midfield in the shape that it was. I even included Bayern in a list of teams that I thought would be superior and was generally laughed off as being too miserable after the clasico. We have made some progress but not enough, sadly. Ozil seemed a little tired, not quite as sharp as Saturday. Khedira still just lacks that bit of invention that we needed in a game like this.
And I will never understand the introduction of Kaka, a player that offers so little. He is only capable of playing in straight lines either until he can shoot or a defender stops him. I would have rather had Callejon go on for Di Maria. And then the missed penalty well it was the icing on the cake. I really hope I never see him in Madrid shirt again.
On the whole it was a great semifinal to be a part of, just a cruel way to go out of course.
