PSG, building quite a line up! Empty PSG, building quite a line up!

Post by bluenine Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:13 am

With the expected acquisition of Lucas, PSG could potentially field quite a potent starting XI:

    Ibrahimovic - Lavezzi
    Lucas - Pastore - Menez
    Sissoko - Motta
    Sakho - T. Silva - Alex
    Sirigu

Others: Lugano, Maxwell, Jallet, Verratti, Matuidi, Nene

10 of the above players coming from Serie A. I know Ancelotti will not start such an attacking line up or a 3 man defence, but its a great fantasy XI by PSG. I think they might even start as one of the CL hopefuls.

    I doubt they will line up with a 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 formation,don't think I have ever see that before tbh.

More likely they will play a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation with Lavezzi and Menez as the wide players, one of Lucas or Pastore depending on who is the better player and Alex coupled with T Silva at CB.Maxwell is the only FB I know of theirs so I am not sure who will play there.Maicon would be a good buy for them, still a very good FB who they could get for cheap.

Bluenine they won't start as one of the CL hopefuls,at least not to anyone who understands football, when are you going to learn how crucial experience is in the CL? These players need to gel together and gain the necessary experience for at least 3 seasons before they have a realistic chance of winning the CL.

Haven't the kneejerkers learnt their lesson from Citys CL campaign last season? At the start of the season everyone was saying they were as good as us(Barcelona) and that they are one of the favorites to win the CL.They were brilliant in the Donkeys Premier League the first few months but at the same time they were shit in the CL.They didn't/don't yet have the know how, experience and canniness to go all the way in the CL.Also having a technically abysmal player like Lescott in their starting line up doesn't help.

I said 6 months ago Lescott isn't good enough at CL level, people on here said I was wrong but now I have noticed over the last few months that people are starting to acknowledge his glaring limitations.

Like I said, that was the "fantasy" XI, not a realistic one. They realistic line up with probably be more like:

    Ibrahimovic
    Lucas - Pastore - Lavezzi
    Sissoko/Matuidi - Motta
    Maxwell - T. Silva - Alex/Sakho - Jallet
    Sirigu

That's why I said "hopeful", not "favourite". Football does not always follow logic. The CL may only have 2-3 favourites to win, and most likely one of them will win it, but there are always a chance that one of the hopefuls like Juve, PSG or City may go all the way. Its a KO tournament, anything can happen mate. How many people expected Chelsea to win the CL before the start of last season?

But I do agree with you. Most likely, PSG will need 2-3 years to rebuild. Perhaps Ancelotti's CL experience will make their learning curve in Europe sharper than usual.

And please stop talking like worms. One of them is bad enough... Razz
