    Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few signings to report so far:

    Miroslav Stefanovic - Sevilla
    Jordi Figueras - Rayo
    Ricardo - Osasuna
    Vadim Demidov (Celta)

A couple of notable outgoing players as well:

    Joel (Atletico) - Wigan [loan]
Dani Güiza (Getafe) - Johor FC
Ivan Obradovic (Zaragoza) - Sabadell [loan]
    Jonathan Pereira (Betis) - Villarreal

Biggest move though, potentially, is in the second division. Sounds like Giuseppe Rossi is on the verge of an 10m euro move to Fiorentina. Rossi is still a couple of months away from playing though so it would be a bit of a risk for Fiorentina.

*Apparently Jose Angel Sanchez has been making some initial contacts with Cavani's agent in case Ronaldo does not sign a new deal, the Uruguayan would be part of a plan B. Sounds like this guy would cost upwards of 50m.

*Poor Rayo, they bring the world Michu and lose him to f*cking Swansea of all places and now this year they have Leo Baptistao going with 6 goals and 5 assists so far in the league and Man Utd, Juve, and Liverpool are all trying to sign him. Atletico were the first ones to show interest but now all of Europe is going to be after him it seems.

*Valencia are rumoured to have made their first signing for 2013-14......drum roll......and the player is.......JAVI FUEGO!!!!!!!! Doh

*Del Nido came out saying that Sevilla had rejected a 16m bid for Negredo but it sounds like there is a lot of interest from England. One article said Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham. Maybe Spurs or Arsenal, but I can't really see Chelsea (now that they have Ba and Torres). Either way I don't see the point for Negredo, any of those clubs he is going to maybe be third choice.

*Ivan Rakitic could also be leaving Sevilla. Been linked with a move to Russia (Lokomotiv).

*Laudrup trying to sign Canas from Betis for his Swansea project.

It's a silly move for him because if Adebayor is fit then he will be first choice and Defore has been doing pretty good. He will be on the bench but at least he will be on the bench of a CL team and not a disgrace like Sevilla.

I've always liked him though, he plays with a good combination of aggression & skill and his scoring record is very reliable, he works the channels well and has good awareness. Judging by the way Spanish players have done in England over the past 5 years, he'll only look better over here.

The boy can play there's no doubt about it, I just wonder how many chances he will get at Spurs. But maybe Defore will be the odd man out...you'd think if you are going to cough up in excess of 16m euro for a player, he would have to see the pitch at least some.

Jose Angel to Getafe? wtf. This kid was a big big deal two seasons ago. Almost signed for Barcelona, went to Roma with Luis Enrique, came back to la Real at the beginning of this season but can't get in the team and now maybe going to Getafe? It was predictable that things would not work in Italy but surely he should be able to get in the team of de la Bella. Bizarre.

I know the feeling, sicked and tired of epl signing la liga best players outside of the big two, but credit to the Spanish clubs for keep turning them out.

He was always going to leave if not this season then next, I hope they squeeze every cent out of roman.

Latest from Italy is that Kaka and Milan have agreed terms, but Real are not too interested in Galliani's loan proposal. Who knows how this will end?

Kaka will reportedly earn 6m at Milan (if he comes)

I want him to come back to Milan.

EDIT: Galliani: Negotiations for Kaka are over. Problems with fiscal laws.

It was interesting that Allegri wanted him to be (allegedly) the "new Pirlo". Not sure I could envision Kaka playing that deep in the pitch. Still, like you say, the deal is off. Not sure what 'fiscal laws' is referring to but the reports out of Spain were that Milan only wanted a loan, Madrid only wanted to sell.

It's the usual prevarication from the country's teflon don and his acolyte. They knew of all laws...this could either mean that Kaka will be brought to Milan by Berlusconi in another colpo di scena...or it could mean nothing. We have now sold T. Silva, Ibra, and Pato for all sorts of money, and we have seen nothing but free and mediocre players brought into the team.

Real are right to dig in their heels, but the reported 25 million may be a bit too much for Kaka. Even in this PSG-City fuelled market.

Every transfer market season one thing sharpens in clarity: Milan are no longer a big club. We have to live with it.

A few more comings and goings:

*Malaga have signed Diego Lugano on loan until the end of the season. Always been impressed with his performances with Uruguay. Not sure why he didn't fit into PSG's plans but I think he is a big improvement over Demichelis, Weligton, and Onyewu. Not sure if he is able to play in CL or not.

*Croatia defender Danijel Pranjic has joined Celta Vigo on loan also until the end of the season from Sporting CP. Not really sure how he fits in to the plans but he is an experienced player that can give them another option at left back or left midfield.

*Getafe have sold David Abraham to Hoffenheim for 4m euro. He'd joined Getafe last summer on a free from Basel but it seemed like they were looking to sell him from the start.

They've offered 10m but Sevilla are holding out for no less than 15m.
