That time of year again! Lots of rumours about players leaving: Reyes, Altintop, etc. Will be interesting to see if there are many 'altas'. Still not too many clubs with any cash. Malaga were quite busy last January but who knows how much more the sheikh is going to invest this year. Anyhow, we'll track all of the ins and outs here!

Albiol looks absolutely woeful for Madrid at the moment, and I think they may as well get rid. Carvalho/Pepe/Ramos/Varane (who looks very impressive for an 18 year old) should be fine. Despite his form (or limitations??), Albiol would still be a decent buy for someone like Malaga as he's better than both their CB's. Madrid might be able to get about 8-10m Euros for him too. They also need someone half-decent to partner Toulalan; and they could do worse than Granero I suppose.

I can't see many other major moves happening; in or out. Possibly a couple of loans. Barca should loan Fontas, but to be truthful he isn't good enough for the first team anyway.

Can't see much else happening? Apart from a few low-key loans/journeyman moves at the lower clubs.

Atletico have been relatively active in the January window the last couple of seasons. If Reyes goes I could see them trying to orchestrate a few other moves. Like you say, Malaga will probably try and make a couple of incorporations. Sevilla still in the market for a striker. I wouldn't be surprised if Villarreal don't try to sign a player or two (probably on loan) given their injury situation.

I can see quite a few outgoing players as well. Just seen a rumour that Espanyol want to sell Kameni this January.

La Liga Loca is trying to start a Torres-Falcao swap rumour. Would be interesting...Torres back at ex-club, Falcao back with ex-manager. Both ridiculously overpriced.

    A few rumours from today:

*Valencia are still pursuing a new right back. Gregory van der Wiel has been linked with them in recent weeks and apparently they have made an official offer that was deemed to be too low by Ajax. The latest name to be mentioned is 19 year old Sime Vrsaljko from Dinamo Zagreb.

*Juventus and Inter are rumoured to be making offers for Diego Perotti. Perotti said he would only leave if Sevilla needed to sell him to raise money.

*Levante who have been one of the surprises of la liga so far are in the market for another striker and are looking at Marko Pantelic from Olympiakos.

*Jonathan Soriano has attracted a lot of interest from EPL teams but now Real Sociedad are emerging as a possible destination for the Barcelona B striker.

*Betis interested in out of favour Valencia centre back Ricardo Costa. Have no idea why because he really is sh!t.

*Malaga have been linked with Esteban Granero for Manuel Pellegrini's midfield but a couple of other names now being associated with a move if Granero does not work out: Borja Valero (Villarreal really low in the table and need to cash to reinforce other positions that have been depleted by injuries), Dani Parejo (moved to Valencia thinking that Ever Banega was on the way out, now he's fallen out with Emery), and Lucho Gonzalez (was linked with a move to Malaga in the summer, not sure it can happen mid-season but Marseille look out of the title hunt already so maybe).

That is a good signing. Surprised Atleti would sell him to a direct rival for European places but maybe that is all they could do to get rid of him.

    'Both ridiculously overpriced'.

Rubbish. In current inflation, Falcao is priced right. Torres OTOH was priced way more than he was worth. AT the time, people thought it was just lack of form. And he'd get back to his peak.

Valencia heavily linked with VdW, though I imagine he is more likely to move in the summer. Would be a very good buy for them, and slightly suprising given he has been linked with Europe's biggest clubs. Him or Azpil would be great for them.

I understand Guardado, on a free no less, is all but a formality. Excellent business. For me that would just leave a CB to push Ruiz and maybe a partner for Banega.

Who is responsible for their transfers? I'm very impressed.

Why would they replace Tino Costa?

I don't think Tino Costa is a reliable enough perfomer. Excellent at set pieces and a hard worker, but not great in either facet of the game and gives possession away to cheaply. If they can find someone creative to go in the hole (i.e. Canales if he stays), then I think they'd be better off having an out and out DM next to Banega. Someone like Romeu would have been perfect, but I'm not sure what affordable good options there are. Albelda is old, and I'm not overly convinced by Topal either as a first choice.

    @Fey

Surely VdW has lots of potential though?

I agree Tino Costa is a good enough squad player but I don't think he is really good enough for the XI if Valencia ever want to make a push for the league or make a run in the knockout rounds of the CL. Agree on Topal as well.

I don't really know that much about van der Wiel but surely he can't be worse than Miguel or Barragan.

A shame they lost Isco to Malaga because he is looking more and more like a player who could have played just behind Soldado.

I was thinking Valencia where more in need of better support strikers, think they could do better with an upgrade on Pablo Hernandez,he would be a good squad player but think he lacks a bit of quality and that's why Valencia are much more dangerous on the left side.

Also now that there stadium will be completed in 2 years time do you think they will be still looking on selling there best players every year?

Do they still have massive debt or was that wiped out with there deal with Bankia?

I always liked Pablo ever since that first season he went on loan in Getafe. To me he has looked a little off psychologically. You can imagine it would be disheartening for the last three summers to have the teams best players sold. I think he does have the quality personally. Besides Valencia have a lot of needs if they want to get back to being really competitive again and I think Pablo is the least of their worries. Before upgrading the right wing they need, in no particular order, a right back, centre back, defensive midfielder, and either a left back or a left winger (depending on where Jordi Alba ends up settling), and probably a second striker/attacking midfielder.

Hopefully for their sake, they eventually won't have to be a selling club any longer once the new stadium is built and assuming they can sell the old ground. Probably 3-4 years away from seeing them being able to compete for titles this of course is granting that everything goes to plan without any new obstacles.

Also now that there stadium will be completed in 2 years time do you think they will be still looking on selling there best players every year?

Hmm it's not just him it's the support strikers/wingers in general who when faced with Chelsea playing a parked bus in front of there goal didn't seem to have any ideas how to create chances or dribble past there marker.

And was it Ruiz who let Ramirez just run past him? In La Liga though both Ruiz and Rami have impressed me equally as much.I definatley agree on them needing a new DM though, they could rotate with Tino Costa according to the opposition/tactics.

But if either of them get injured or suspended they are f*cked!

    Other odds and ends:

*Ricardo Costa trying to get out of Valencia. He has been negotiating with Trabzonspor but they will only sign him on a free and I don't think Valencia are keen to just give him away. Costa's replacement could be Botia.

*Levante are interested in signing a left winger and a striker to continue their assult on the CL places but they will have to sell players to finance the new signings.

*Rayo midfielder Néstor Susaeta has been released and will be signing for Lausanne in Switzerland.

*Juventus look to be close to signing Martin Caceres from Sevilla. Of course Caceres was there on loan during his spell at Barcelona but now the Old Lady want him there on a permanent deal. Racing's young centre back Alvaro is being touted as a replacement.

*Betis are hoping to sign french defender Mickael Ciani. Lyon are apparently interested in signing him too.

*Getafe is still, bizarrely, being linked Jose Manuel Jurado. He is a good player but I can't believe he would really go to Getafe even if he is not in favor at Schalke (is he? I don't even). The rumour is Schalke want 9m for Jurado. But there is no way Getafe are paying that kind of fee.

*Over Christmas I saw Saviola was being linked with Granda! Shocked But....their president has come out and said they are not interested.

*Mallorca have signed belgian striker Marvin Ogunjimi. Never heard of him. They've only managed 15 goals in 18 matches so maybe he will help.

*Villarreal want another CM/DM. Molina is apparently going to use Marchena in defence. And that really only leaves Bruno and Marcos Senna. Borja Valero hasn't really worked out playing in a deeper role. Saw one rumour they might go for Muntari on loan. Erm
