Final score 1-1. A game of two halves - we were absolutely tremendous in the 2nd half, but Valencia were excellent in defence. All 4 (and Navarro) at the back put in tremendous performances.

That said, Etoo should have had at least one penalty.

Every club has players that dive Kas. Barca have players have more than most. Most of whom are more theatrical than most when doing it.

I see Barca did their usual "dive around the edge of the box as much as possible" once again. Thankfully Ronaldinho is horrible at free kicks. I think he probably has the worst free kick conversion rate out of any player in the world, when you consider how many free kicks he takes and the fact that he NEVER tries to pass the ball.

Its not just that they dived, its the fact that after the game they had the audacity to moan at the ref !

@Obispo: I know, I just wanted to know what lrd was referring to before throwing around such strong accusations so easily.

@LSR: That's because it was a penalty for the foul from behind on Etoo, think how you would feel after you completely destroyed a team in the 2nd half and made them look like a mid-table side.

@Torrente: I agree, I wish he would stop taking all of them. Give others a chance, or pass it.

And I wouldn't say we have more or the most theatrical, it's fairly even across most teams in Spain. We just get all the attention because we're top of the league.

He hasnt dived once this season, if there is a game where etoo ronaldinho deco dont dive i havent seen it.
Not just that, when etoo dives ronaldinho goes beserk, asking for yellow cards, not giving the ball back properly, diving all the time ridiculous dives aswell. Then they moan when they dont get free kicks, no wonder you dont if your diving all the time.
How can etoo ask for a penalty when he has been diving all match, the ref will just think he is diving again.
Best team in the world probably, some of the best players, really no need for it so much

Cole - Example of dive this season?
    Drogba - Same as Cole
Lampard - Again, same as Cole.

They may all have dived in the past, but I can't recall any of them diving once this season (for Chelsea)

Ballack - The Werder Bremen match where he tried to win the pen yes, but I can't think of anything else.

Kalou might have a case for a 'dive' (Charlton) although I don't actually think he was pleading for one (didn't look back at the ref at all)

    @kasnani

Deco is actually much better at free kicks than Ronaldinho. He used to score quite a few for Porto. Ronaldinho NEVER score them, so I don't see why he has to take every single one.

Regarding the penalty, it did look like it on the replay, but Etoó had been diving so theatrically throughout the game, that he got a bit of karma in the end. He even made a huge dive for a penaly in the first half, and I'm sure the ref didn't forget that. All those dodgy free kicks Barca got in the edge of the box also even things out as far as bad ref decisions go.

@LSR: Though they were excellent in the 1st half, I'd hardly call it "destroying us". They were their typical selves, 1-0 up = "we can sit back now".

@lrd: Maybe I was watching a different game to you, because I certainly don't recall Etoo diving "all the time". I understand everyone's frustration with diving, simulation, asking for cards, etc. I don't like it either, but I don't control the team - it's a part of Spanish/South American footballing culture and we'll just have to live with it.

The are the best players in the world in the repective positions how dear anyplayer even come close to them, give them at least arm lenght moving room. and let them entertain the public one team has to do it these days of 10 men behind the ball like valencia did today.

the eto'o penalty should haved been called, i guess the don and his mafia friends have just reach la liga and can now get the refs to give alls the will benifit RM

I find this 'He hasn't dived this season' thing quite amusing Biggrin So? does that mean they won't ever again? Fact is all of them (ie the Chel$ea players I have mentioned) have proven track records.

Anyway every team has divers amongst them and this is a pointless pot-kettle argument.

That's what I said on Puro's thread. And people shouldn't get me wrong, looking back on this 1-1 I'm pleased with the result, esp. since the team showed they can play well against one of the best defences in the league. Right now it just feels that it was there for the taking and we missed out on it.

Good call on Deco. And Marquez is also decent.

I thought we were only talking about this season though mate? Because otherwise we can list almost every EPL outfielder there is and label them a diver, because they've done it before.

Drogba, Robben, Cole may have proven track records of diving, but so do Ronaldo, Rooney at Man Utd, Sissoko, Gerrard at Liverpool, Henry, Ljunberg, Reyes (still technically an EPL player) at Arsenal etc.

We're no worse than any other club, and certainly haven't been this season.
