So now it looks like Barcelona - Atletico can be a title decided for both teams and Real is out (if Atletico and Barce will win their weekend games).

Benzema needs to GTFO. He is consistently lazy and ineffective and I'm sick of him.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Season Thread
And that was the end of the title fight. Only saw the last 20 mins but it looked like a really bad match and we just seemed to let them get cross after cross. Admittedly the defence handled those crosses but we still shouldn't have let them get it that easy. We should have retreated to defending in two chains like against Bayern. Either way it was a corner and wonderful defending from that Spanish c**t Illarramendi.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Season Thread
To be honest the title was still going to be a long shot because of the fact that we trailed both Atleti and Barsa in the goal average tie breaker. Atletico have been in the drivers seat for quite some time now and I think the focus of everybody in the club is really the CL final.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Season Thread
as i predicted
Copa:real
League: US (we dont deserve it, but math cares little about that)
CL: atletico
how sweet it would be for real to lose the 10th to atletico, think it would hurt even more than losing it in to us.

Real Madrid are winning the CL so it would be nice for Atletico to win the league but they might do a Liverpool and let the pressure be too much for them.

I don't think that will be the issue with Simeone in charge.
Besides, Barcelona will drop points at Elche.

My sense has been that Atletico would win the league on the last day and we would go on to win CL. However it seems that we are the ones suffering injuries and lapse of concentration towards the end and giving it to Atletico without a fight.

They gave up on Wednesday, the line up was ridiculous. No Di Maria, Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale. They are putting all their eggs in the 'Decima' basket which could very likely blow up in their face.
p.s fucking hell just seen the Celta goals, embarassing

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Season Thread
Difficult choices all of them really...
Player of the Year: From start to finish it has been the year of Diego Costa. Even though Ronaldo and the other usual suspects have been very good, Costa has just been outstanding and it's even more remarkable when you consider that he has never scored more than 10 goals before in his life. Represents everything Atletico are about really.
Young Player of the Year: Thinking of U21 players. Lots of good candidates. Could make a case for Saúl, Rubén Pardo, Rafinha has been pretty decent, Jesé before the injury. But I will go with Aymeric Laporte though. This kid is only 19 and he looks the business. The new "Varane".
Goalkeeper of the Year: Gotta be Courtois. The guy is amazing.
Manager of the Year: Simeone has done a great job but I want to give it to Valverde for his work at Athletic. I think he's always been overlooked as far as Spanish managers go and he's never really been a candidate for one of the big clubs but considering the constraints he has to work with, to get Athletic Bilbao into the Champions League is quite remarkable.
Team of the Year: Atlético. Pretty much the epitome of team.
Best signing: Giovani Dos Santos - €6m to Mallorca and he really was Villarreal's best player. 10 goals, 7 assists. Could yet steer them to Europa League. Could also be Charles for Celta. I think he cost 1m euro and finished with 12 goals, probably kept them out of the relegation battle.
Worst signing: Joshua Guilavogui - €12m for a guy who played zero minutes and returned to France after 6 months?
Best goal: Always subjective and the recent ones always stand out compared to the ones from the beginning of the season but I'll go with this:
Unsung hero: I'll go with Dani Parejo. Another one we were talking about the other day. He has very quietly transformed into a very good player this season. He's always had the talent but he has really put it all together this year. I could also give it to Modric who is consistently the best player for RM without grabbing the headlines. Raúl García is another good shout.
Villain: El Madrigal for the monkey chants directed at Dani Alves
XI of the Year: Courtois (Atlético), Mario (Villarreal), Godín (Atlético), Laporte (Athletic), Filipe Luís (Atlético), Koke (Atlético), Gabi (Atlético), Rakitic (Sevilla), Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Diego Costa (Atlético), Vela (Real Sociedad)
Kept going back and forth on Griezmann or Vela. Really wanted to put Herrera (same with Raúl García) somewhere but I couldn't leave out Gabi or Koke really and Rakitic has been outstanding. Was thinking about Musacchio too but Laporte has been so good. Finally settled on a right back and with Mario from Villarreal.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Season Thread
Unfortunately I am not familiar with many teams, so it's possible I would miss some deserving candidates.
But for "Unsung hero" - Bruno Soriano has to be considered. He is doing Modric and Alonso job for Villarreal every week, amazing DM/CM who is also a Villarreal academy player.
Good decision with selecting Mario for starting RB - very good season for him, he is much better comparing to Angel a few years ago, especially his defensive work is surprisengly solid. Musacchio wasn't very impressive IMO, he doesn't seem to be developing like it was expected.
