Seriously though, now Madrid fans will know how we felt against Chelsea last year. With the horrible blocks on the line and incredible saves. After a few of those misses tonight you just knew that somehow it was finally Atleticos night. It was fate, like last year against Chelsea. I tried not to admit it to myself though while I was watching the match in case I jinxed it. Smile

    Drama queen more like.

I like this picture I just found:

La Liga 2012/13 Season Thread 73nh4m

If Atletico can beat Madrid in a game like this, in the manner they did then anything is possible. Cool

Godin was the only weak link in Atleticos teams today as he was at fault for Ronaldos goal and kept on giving away stupid free kicks. Arda Turan, Gabi, Courtieus, Diego Costa, Juanfran (had Ronaldo in his back pocket) and Falcao all had inspired games. They still need another creative player in their squad as well as Arda Turan, maybe Oliver Torres will play more next season? Modric and Ramos where the only good players for Madrid.

Simeones passion on the touchline was great to see, unlike Mourinho who didn't seem all too bothered and purposefully got himself sent off. Simeone has done an amazing job at Atletico, 3 trophies in 2 seasons and CL football next season.

I knew it would happen one day. Sad

But it was a great match all in all. A bit disgraceful the way Gabi conned the referee to have Ronaldo sent off. Also amusing to see Jose who was sat there on the bench looking like he didn't give a fuck the whole match until all of the sudden he errupts and gets himself sent off. I think worms is right, he never intended to finish the match on the bench.

Plenty of chances between Benzema, Ozil, Higuain, Di Maria, and Ronaldo. Just could not score which has really been the problem all season.

Ironic that Diego Lopez (and I'm not blaming him because he's been very good since arriving) concedes the goal on a cross (looked like Essien forgot his daddy's instructions for marking) with Iker on the bench because he's "not good enough on crosses".

In any case, a fitting end to the Jose Mourinho reign in Madrid.

Somewhere out there, there is a very happy welshman. Cheers The-Frank-Tavern. Ale

Fair play to Atletico who played a good game. We have more than enough chances in the game so we deserve to lose. A scrappy game and very tough but I liked it and especially the fact that it went to overtime. Diego Simone is great and I love what he has done with this Atletico team but I do wonder how they will recover losing Falcao although Diego Costa has grown on me which I never thought would happen.

    HOLY SHIT ATLETICO WON!

On the day of Ahora o Nunca...they did it!. The last time they did that, Jesus Gil was still alive, Aznar was still president, the Peseta was still around, Todo sobre di Madre almost won an Oscar, Casilllias won the WC U-21 and van Gaal won La Liga for the 2nd time in a row. Eto's still played for Real, Solari for Atletico and the 30th of October 1999 Seedorf played the derby with Real against Atletico that had Hasselbaink. And Jimmy Floyd won. Who scored twice. Since then it's been a Razzia in the derby with 25 victories for Real. Fuera e in Casa. 4949 days unbeaten against Atletico. 13 years, 11 months and 5 days sufrir for the Socios of Atletico. Back then Courtois was 7, Falcao 13, Ozil 10 and Benzema 12. Almost 14 years of suffering is for everyone to much, but not for the Colchoneros from the temple on the Manzanares. Cause they always believed in it, and they finally did it!

They have been shite 2/3rds of the season yet are level on points with Sociedad? No, maybe the linesmen should do the job they are paid to do, then Valencia would be rightfully above Sociedad. The linesmen in La Liga are the worst I have seen in Europe. The linesman who made that mistake should be sacked or investigated.

Of Real Sociedad deserve it more. Do you even watch la liga or do you just comment on it like you do? They have been one of the most enterprising teams all year and they are full of young players. Valencia have a budget over two times that of Real Sociedad. Valencia spent a lot of money over the summer on some very sh!t players. They aren't even interesting to watch.

Of course I watch La Liga, you know very well I do. I stick to my opinion that Valencia play better football than Sociedad, Sociedad have a better defense and play some good counter attacking stuff. But Valencia are one of the best possession sides in the world who can give anyone a game on their day. Valencia have played some brilliant stuff the last few months, with Banega as the genius in midfield. But they are let down by their shit defense. Valencia have a negative net spend over the last 4 years or so, so criticizing them over the little money they have spent is stupid. They hardly spent anything last summer.

Valencia are the 3rd/4th biggest club in Spain, so for them to not make the CL and sell Goldado and Banega to the PL is not good for the league.

Which gives them a bigger budget which means their expectations are a lot bigger. La Real are a small time club these days they've come out of nowhere played great football and imo deserve it more than Valencia who are basically turning into the Arsenal of Spanish football with no real ambition except to finish in CL places and then continue selling their best players so they can dream of a big new stadium. The only difference is the Nou Mestalla will probably never be finished!
