Juventus are going to play the next two years at the Olimpico - they will groundshare obviously with Torino, who have NEVER got over the loss of their spiritual home - but that is a sad story for another day.

Just like Delle Alpi before, the Olimpico now has its critics amongst the Juventini -hee hee they are NEVER satisfied!!! As a result, the capicity has been REDUCED to 25,400!!!!

Torino naturally were FURIOUS with this, their Serie B crowds average alone was close to 25,000 and their President made contact with Juventus and asked (!) them if Torino could play their 'big' matches at Delle Alpi - of course Juventus refused, they said maintenance costs would be too high (!!!).

At the moment, Delle Alpi will remain empty and useless, until they decide to build the new stadium inside it, probably starting in a year or sos time at the earliest!!! Work was supposed to start in 2006, but of course the Calciopoli verdict forced the resignation of the Juve board and thus annulled the plans. The new Juventus board have announced that they didn't like Giraudio's plans for the new stadium and have asked for time to draw up new plans - nobody knows though WHEN these new plans will be ready OR when they can start construction!!!

In 2003, Juventus purchased the Delle Alpi from the Turin city council for 25 million Euros. The original idea was to build an English-style square stadium INSIDE the Delle Alpi. Capacity would be reduced to about 35,000 people. There were all sorts of other schemes that were envisaged - Juve wanted a museum, cinema, shopping centre, bowling alley, club shop etc etc, to build a big stadium COMPLEX, i don't know how the new plans will go.

well laporta is planning so improvements to the nou Camp which may inculed expanding what is already the biggest football club studium in europe

Lazio are DEFINATELY on the move, the question as always is WHEN????

In 2001, there were a series of confirmations that lazio were planning to move to a new stadium, hopefully by 2003/2004.

Both Lazio and Roma rent from the Rome City Council, the problem is that Roma attract over 60,000 fans regularly and have the largest amount of season ticket holders in Italy. Lazio by comparison only pull in averages of 40 - 45,000 - the Olimpico like most stadiums in Italy now, is rarely filled. Originally Lazio wanted to buy the Olimpico, but they realised it was lunacy because they would never fill it.

It is said that Lazio's new Stadium is being designed by the Architechts who re-modelled Berlin's Olympic Stadium for the 2006 World Cup, and also that it will be based on Ajax's Amsterdam Arena. It will also boast a retractable roof! Capacity-wise it will be about 40-50,000 the figure always changes

The original plans for this sounded quite good, lazio would build a sort of COMPLEX with hotel, leisure park,

Roma will stay at the Olimpico and are planning to buy it from the Rome City Council. Lotito, on the other hand needs to buy land, and permission from the Council to do this. The new Lazio stadium will probably be located quite far from the City. Traditionally Lazio's fanbase comes from the richer Northern districts of Rome, the actual city belongs largely to Roma, so location-wise it is quite a sensible move, it means the Derbies would become even more fiercely 'terrorotorial'!

And Patetico have plans on building a new stadium too as do Deportivo

Yes he wants to expand the stadium and renovate the entire Miniestadie/Palau and make it more integrated into the Les Corts neighbourhood.

I believe the extension of the Weserstadion is planned to be ready in Summer 2008, the capacity will be about 56000 then...
As far as I know at the moment they still have some problems to solve with the residents of the Weserstadion...

Valencia's new stadium

Looks nice. Also heard a rumour of a new Getafe stadium, plus Sociedad should be replacing the Anoeta I read somewhere. Murcia, their new stadium is ready any time I think.... The list goes on in Spain. You think Levante might get the Mestalla Messiah?! They certainly need a new stadium. The Mestalla is a great arena and it would be a shame to see it be crushed.

There will also be a lot of new staduims in France between 2007 and 2010.

Thus Lyon will have 50 000
Lille 50 000 as well
Nice 35 000
St Etienne 50 000
and Marseille 80 000

This will look a bit better since most staduims are relatively small compare to our neigbors

Yeh, they are quite poor. Considering you hosted the World Cup in 1998, I think the standard of stadium in France is a bit dissapointing. The Stade de France perhaps the only stadium you can describe as "World Class". How far will Marseille go to filling an 80,000 capacity?

i haven't herd anything like that but its possible, though i doubt they will give their stadium to Levante

Funny how Liverpool's new stadium looks ancient already especially compared to what Lille or Marseille are planning.

Can someone tell me what the towers certain stadiums have are for? Such as Stadio Artemio Franchi and the uruguayan national stadium.

As for the towers, they look like decorations. Maybe cameras were mounted up there??

No but the community of Valencia may reccomend it, believe me, the ciutat de Valencia is a shithole as I have said so many times. Why would the city of Valencia want to crush the Mestalla leavin a world class + shit stadium, when they can have two!? Doesn't really make sense, although obviously, the rivalry might affect the decision.

The Marseille looks amazing, as does new Valencia stadium. Looks to me as if it will be located near the Science museums, Valencia is taking over BArcelona as the architechtural capital!
