I like the Super Depor Stadium revamp - at least it's got character. So many new grounds end up looking like one another. Liverpools new stadium plan looks like Arsenals Emirates Stadium, which looks like the City of Manchester Stadium at Eastlands.

I don't see the point in expanding the Camp Nou. I thikn they want to raise another tier on the tribuna side so the whole stadium is levelled. THe views from the 4th tier are terrible (away fans can confirm this) and I don't see what's the point in having a bigger stadium if we hardly ever fill it.

The expansion and the new Palau will be financed by selling the land where the Mini is, or building flats on it and selling them.

i agree completely i've been sating this form the moment i heard of it.

what i think they should do is reduce the capacity to around 85000 (as we only get the 98000 for big CL gams and the classico). put in some VIP Boxes which will bring in more money than having almost 20000 empty seats almost every game. has will has building a roof

Not sure about that, I thought 76,000 was it for the long term. I mean it cost us £44 million to increase by 9,000 seats.

Always thought St Andrews was 30,00, don't know where the extra 6,000 come from! £44 Million! Fuckin ell, whats all that about, why so expensive? The seats also look really out of place. Money poorly spent for United. They should have built a new stadium on one of the many disused wherehouse sights around Manchester!

just learnt this weekend that Nürnberg seem to have extended their stadium capacity to

    50.000 seats

    now

    and in Munich

the Allianz Arena will go up to

    71.000 seats

    this season

the Stuttgart revamp is finished as well and they are now at

    60.000 +

cannot see anything else of note in the pipeline in Das Vaterland

    ---------------

France will get a whole batch of exciting new stadia for their Euros

putting their league firmly on the international map as well

    ------------

so where are we in England , the RICHEST league in the world ?

will Chelsea move in the Battersea Power Station now ?

will Spurs or somebody else move into the Olympic Stadium ?

what happened to those exciting plans of a shared stadium in Liverpool ?

    ------------

    and what about Italy ?

any plans to privatise and build new stadia ?

    -----------

and will Feyenoord ever get their 80.000 seat stadium leonardo was always telling us about ?

Funny that you mention it. Cause there has been a lot of news on that subject lately. It was 86.000 actually, but that would only happen if Holland got the WC of 2018.

This month Feyenoord will decide on one of these three options.
    European Stadium Plans - Page 2 18320710

    European Stadium Plans - Page 2 37388710

    European Stadium Plans - Page 2 373886

The third option will be a new stadium and demolish the old one.

And in december the local government will decide. The new stadium be an all-seater with 63.000-75.000 seats with the Allianz Arena as inspiration.

But as expected, a lot of fans don't want a new stadium. Cause de Kuip is unique. And thus a plan was launched to renovate the new stadium again.

    European Stadium Plans - Page 2 2012-010

As much as I love de Kuip, I dont think it's realistic.

That must have cost an insane amount of money to build..

I can tell you,2 years on from the Wrold Cup,4 of our stadiums are white elephants.

Firstly,2 stadiums were built in areas where there are no football, rugby or cricket teams,so there isn't a home sports team in the area to use them.

Secondly, the stadiums in DUrban and Cape Town are not being used because none of the sports teams want to move from their traditional home grounds. The one's who are keen, don't have the fan base or the money to use the stadiums.

    White elephants everywhere!!!!!!!!!!

But the World Cup was fun whilst it lasted........sigh

Why wouldn't you get rid of the old stadium? What's the point of having 2 of them next to each other, you wouldn't use the old one so why maintain it.

I believe de Kuip has monument status in Holland, thus it wont be easy to demolish. I think it will be stripped from it's roof and support all other kinds of sports. Like iceskating and such. Though in reality I believe it will do that for a couple of months/years and then suddenly catch fire, like it happened to so many other stadia.

But I kinda hope we keep it, especially in it's old version, you can see how much nou camp looks like de kuip, and it's nice to have two stadiums that are bigger then White hart lane!

The local authorities can always lie in hope that a messiah comes in wanting the unwanted stadium......

Plus, look @ valencia, don't have the funds to finish the Nou Mestalla, won't find a buyer for the old Mestalla in the financial crisis-hit Spain

    Silly Bernd, silly bernd,
    What are they feeding you,
    Silly Bernd, Silly Bernd,
    It's not your fauuulllt!

those are called artist impressions ye twonk!

    IE

It means fuck all. Besides it's fuckin racist to imply that all the white people are going to the match and TS is walking away from it. By the happy smile they have given him, it looks like he sold a few tickets on the black market.

Anyway, Otto bumped this thread at a great time. Cause today the club officialy announced option 2 as new stadium. 65.000. 320 million euros. Will be a mixture between the Emirates and the Allianz Arena. Starting in 2016 and it will be finished in 2018.

Still a bit sad, first of all they should have made it bigger, mind you de Kuip was build in a time when there was a real crisis out there. And it means I've got only a few years left in de Kuip. Now I know one can't eat from nostalgic alone, but the new stadium will be a 13 in a dozen concrete mall thingy. With all different kinds of leisure for everybody Erm ! Gone is the smell of Nitrate, Urine, Weed, Beer and bitterballen.

But most of all, de Kuip is made out of steel. So when everyone is jumping after a goal, or celebration, the stadium literally shakes!
