I am afraid that collectively is more important than who has individually the best defenders.

the strongest defence to me isn't the one that concedes the least amount goals or have the most talented indivudals but the one that can grind out result when really needed. So on that basis, i think chelsea and liverpool have the strongest defence in england.

To be honest, I wouldn't want him to. Our defence looks half as secure without him there, not only for his defending but for his leading of the line.
If we can't get Hargreaves, go back for Senna and wait a little longer.

Exactly. He's not going to be worse than O'Shea or Fletcher, let's be honest. He's good on the ball, he's strong, he has no problem with the pace of the premiership. Plus, his lack of height wouldn't be exposed in the same way that it may in the centre of defence.
On top of all of that - who's better to man mark a playmaker than a former central defender?

Plus, he's the closest player in Man U's squad to Roy Keane in terms of attitude. And he can't cross very well (certainly not as well as Evra), which is unfortunate because otherwise he's a very good fullback.

I still believe Rio can play that role for u guys. u can't judge him on that single match against blackburn. He is one of the players that is most comfortable on the ball in your team, he has all the attributes to play there; he is fast, strong, good on the ball, good tackler and reads the game well.

Heinze may do ok in the midfield but are we prepared to do more experiments which may mean more dropped points if it doesnt work and more pressure.
To say it simpler get a player who plays as a dm not convert a striker or defender into one.
