To be honest I am a bit afraid of the Romanian teams...it wouldn't surprise me if Dinamo will beat Leverkusen and I think Rapid got an easy group for them...both will surely make a lot of points and they already have 7.666 or in other words more than twice as much as we got this season and they're only 2 points behind us...blutgraetsche wrote:chrissicross wrote:Dammit, this draw does make it even more likely we lose our 5th place in the UEFA Ranking...
No reason to be that pessimistic chrissi. Remember that Bundesliga teams usually do much better against big teams than small / unknown ones. No reason to lose all hope yet.
The Leverkusen matches against Dinamo Bucharest will be of utmost importance for us. They simply have to beat them, and make sure that they don't advance to the next round.
Fortunately, Leverkusen are slowly but surely gaining form these days, the team seems to have geled finally, and their main weakness, the lack of goals, seems to be passé also, especially since Kießling is back from injury.
Frankfurt are a young, hungry team with an excellent coach. They may have a very hard task to fulfill, but I wouldn't write them off just yet. They might surprise a few teams in their group.

Spurs V Leverkusen... cannot wait. Super Len will be back by then, I expect that to be a very interesting tie.
Newcastles group looks ridiculously tough. I dont think they will proceed.
Will anyone stop Sevilla this season? Draw is kind, and they are a superb side.

Re: UEFA cup draw discussion....
Well, Leverkusen have it in their own hands at least. True, the Romanian teams are a force to reckon with these days, but we shouldn't overestimate them either. In normal form, Leverkusen should beat Dinamo Bucharest at home at least.
Frankfurt is a completely different matter though, their group is even tougher. Still, no need to lose all hope here also.
And should both fail, Werder will qualify for the UEFA cup and kick some arse for fun.

Feyenoord Fixtures:
19 oktober: FC Basel - Feyenoord
2 november: Feyenoord vrij
23 november: Feyenoord - Blackburn
30 november: Nancy - Feyenoord
13 december: Feyenoord - Wisla Krakow
Well it could be worse. Basel away is always tough, I hope the supporters can behave themself this time. Was hoping for a German or English team, we got one in Blackburn. Id rateher had Spurs or Newcastle though. But is great to see Emerton back.
Nancy are in a great form lately. 3d in France. Shame we are playing an Eastern european team once again. The atmosphere is always crap against such teams. UEFA should really think about an Eastern and a Western conference.

Everyone should defeat Basel, but you have the luck of the draw to play them away (leaving you with your homegames for tougher opponents).
Nancy and Blackburn could prove to be just about equally though, but I think Feyenoord can win Blackburn, especially in your own back yard. Your also lucky that you won't play Wisla krakow away but at home as well. That leaves Nancy away, which your not in favour of winning TBH. A draw would be a good result - only IF you win from Blackburn.
Against Wisla Krakow, you should also have gelled better by then. Who knows, even Charisteas might prove to be a goalgetter.
Your thoughts?

Re: UEFA cup draw discussion....
@DD
I really dont't expect much of it this year. After Basel we play Ajax, so that will be the end of Koeman.
But back to the Uefacup, I think you are underestimating Basel, we played there a few years ago and we took a lucky draw home. THat will be the hardest game imo, the supporters are still pissed about those huge fights back then. So expect some agressive atmosphere. A draw would be great.
Blackburn will be a good game, lovely to see Emerton back. But we should win this game, Btw you know Blackburn has more tv-income then all Dutch teams Together
Wisla, dont know nothing about it, shall be your average East-european team. Lot's of diving, XI men defending.
Nancy looks great this season, lot of young French talents. We will prolly lose that one.
If we had this poule 2 years ago, we would proceed for sure. But now?? We look really bad this year, but every point we can get for Holland would be great.

Well it has been a long time since there was a "Hooligan" moment with Feyenoord involved. Lets be thankful about that, 10 years ago UEFA was really thinking about not let us play in any European competition at all. After all the madness against Gladbach,Bremen and Leverkussen(that was even a freckin friendly )
Look Fanatism is a good thing, but some people are really losing it.
