    All hail Domenech Very Happy

Italy's bubble has burst, the success of the World Cup has made them think they can just turn up and win - not so it appears Razz

"Please do not underestimate the importance of this match with Scotland. For me it is of massive importance.

"It's going to be a a very big challenge for us to go there and win the game.

"The World Cup is in the past. We've also dealt with the Italy match and now we're into the crucial stages of the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

"Personally, I feel the trip to Scotland will be the first genuine match in the qualifying campaign, I really do think that.

"Scotland aren't top of the group with us by accident.

"They have got there by getting two exceptionally good results at home to the Faroes and away to Lithuania and we won't take them lightly.

"In winning their two opening games they have done enough to merit our respect and they will get that."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Siiiiiiiiiii,

So where does Domenech say that Scotland are BETTER than Italy? scratch Laugh

I happen to think for once that these are excellent comments from Domenech. As usual though, those with an agenda have taken them out of context in order to make a story and to wind people up.

It is crucial not to underestimate any opponent. As Domenech says, the first two games of the group aren't particularly vital, it is rounds 3 and 4 that will really start to create or influence the group order - 'the first genuine match'.

And in that sense it is the first 'genuine' match that France will face - the France v Italy game had a strange feel about it, Scotland will certainly give the French a tougher examination, the return in Italy will provide a more genuine statement about these champions. Scotland have nothing to lose, they are playing at home in front of their amazing fans, whereas Italy were nowhere near match fitness and left several key personell out, plus had just introduced a manager who spent his first three games trying to fix something that wasn't broken and as a result Italy played three dreadful matches.

Not to worry, 6 points from our next two games will hopefully put us back in contention for a qualification place.

And he's right, as for the reasons i've explained above.

NOWHERE in those comments does he say ''Oh, Scotland are BETTER than Italy',

Come along, once you strip the wallpaper of propaganda away, there really are just bare, bland concrete walls behind. Sorry. but in this case the truth is a lot more boring than the 'invented' one. Shouldn't you be concentrating on your countries game anyway?

Who have you got in the next two game to make you think you are guaranteed 6 points?

And by him saying that Scotland are the first REAL challenge, his is implying that Italy were a walkover and weren't considered dangerous ok

I don't think we are GUARANTEDD 6 points, where the hell have i said that???? I said 6 points will hopefully get us back in contention. They will. Doesn't mean that we won't have to fight every inch for them, we aren't entitled to these points, nobody is.

For goodness sake, in the FIRST LINE i said 'it is crucial not to underestimate any opponent'.!!!!!

Domenech's comments are right. Italy were a walkover and weren't dangerous at all. Doubtless Scotland will put up 'more of a fight', but that doesn't make Scotland better than Italy. Or if you really believe that Scotland are better than Italy, fair enough. As the best team from the British Isles we certainly won't be underestimating them then will we?

Fair enough, i admire Walter Smith, great character, great manager.

Scotland is a beautiful country, incredible views, the Lochs and glens are stunning, so wild yet peaceful.

lol! Nice try with the font Tweedle Wink

Well we have two DIFFICULT games coming up. Ukraine we play in Italy on Saturday, but we must travel to Georgia on Wednesday.

HOPEFULLY, we can obtain 6 points. If we can, then our qualification progress will be along the right path and our bad start will be virtually erased.

BUT, Ukraine have some great players, and it is never easy for Italy to travel to these Eastern European countries and adapt to the climate, the conditions and pitches. We tends to struggle against these so called 'smaller' opponents, and so we must treat both matches with utmost respect and prepare professionally and thoroughly.

The reason Domenech said that, and Gallas also said the same thing, is because Italy wasn't full prepared and had lots of players missing. Scotland better than Italy!!! I don't think Scotland will finish better than 3rd! with France and Italy in the first two.
