We are looking at a player who will be the best player in the world in afew years IMO. Not that J.cole isn't any good, J.cole is very talented player, with perhaps a better work rate. Thats it, C.Ronaldo's Dynamicism, flair, untold dribbling abilty, crossing, pisses over J.Cole.......

    (Aimed souly at Famousliverbird)

Are you sure mate? Joe Cole has better crossing than Ronaldo and has a better eye for a pass than him!
This part is true. But CRonaldo is better at the rest.

    Laughing

I know Kalou doesn't have a hope in hell of winning it, but in fairness to him, he's been superb so far this season (whenever he's played). Completely changed the game when he came on against Fulham within minutes.

The reason I say CRonaldo might not become a WPOTY is thaht he lacks two of the most important things next to talent. Let me rephrase it; he might win the trophy due to flair and talent, but he won't be the best player in the world because he lacks 1) vision and 2) brain.

He's way too often unaware of other players, and his decision making is awful. Sometimes truly awful. That's what makes him a frustrating player to watch: when to use tricks; when not to, and go for the simple approach; when to release the ball, etc.
His talent makes alot of good, but its the fact that he needs multiple chances to make the same mistake during a game before he makes a succesful one (third part of last season and this year so far) thath makes him get away with it.

He can't adress those two parts I mentinoed, because some have it and most don't, but he can fix the more selfish decision making - he's a player that has always gone for own glory first. As soon as he starts sharing his game with the other players, then he can be true best of the world.

And fixing his crosses and shooting.

Cesc will always be disadvantaged because he's not an attacking player who will score lots of goals.

Robinho and Kalou won't get anywhere near if they aren't first choice for their clubs.

So IMO it's between Ronaldo, Messi, and Rooney...out of the 3 I think Ronaldo has the best chance of winning it first.

I just think that Cristiano Ronaldo has a more of a free role in the side compared to that of Joe Cole. Joe Cole is not really a left midfielder everyone knows this. Jose Mourinho has recently got the best out of Cole as an attacking midfielder behind the main striker. Joe Cole is technically the ebst player we have in this country and he is not deployed properly. Thats the difference between Sven and Scolari one used his players better the other didn't.
    ok Great Post.

Joe Cole is the most naturally giftred footballer in the English set-up. He needs to be given the freedom, because he has the X-Factor, the unpredictability to hurt the very best defences. Ale

Been mostly average against them, but was very good in the EPL game at Old Trafford where Silvestre got 2 goals.

    rubbish against chelsea
Assisted Fletcher's winner at OT last season - destroyed Ferriera.

Joe Cole is a quality player, but unfortunately has had his natural talents blunted by Mourinho and SGE in an effort to make him more of a team player.

Ronaldo appears not to have these restraints playing under Fergie and Scolari, so therefore, individually is the better player helped by having more natural talent anyway.

    @ Parky & Liverbird.

Ronaldo has also put in top-drawer performances in K.O games of 2 seperate Intl. tounaments, including a goal in the semi-final vs. Holland in Euro 2004 - a header... he's extremely underrated in the air, much like Giggs is.

Yep and as good as Joe Cole was for England at the World cup, I don't think many could argue that Ronaldo's World cup was better.

His performances against England and France were excellent.

I think Cole is a good player, but Ronaldo is a great player, Ronaldo is 4 years younger than cole, yet he has a better goal and assist ratio at club nd international level. This may surprise many as Ronaldo is often labelled a one trick pony with no end product. Were as Cole is seen as the most naturally talented/skillful player in the premiership.

I think distinguished dutchman, was very correct on his analysis on Ronaldo, regarding decison making and selfishness. But you have to remember that he is still 21, when Ronaldinho was at PSG he had the same problems, but look were he is now. I am not saying Ronaldo will become as good as Dinho, but he is young and so still plays for himself and the crowd sometimes. But if you watch him in big games, he doesnt showboat and he is not as selfish.

He has unrivalled natural ability and with time and experience will become world player of the year, although unfortunaley for us, he probably wont be playing in red when he reaches this level.

I dont want to sound like a Messi basher , but still has loads to do to satisfy his tag of the next big thing.
He's still to play a whole season for Barcelona , no doubt he's a great talent but so is Sergio Aguero(sp?) , he will be one of the best in the world if he continues his way but for now he is still a world class potential.

Ronnie is better for Portugal then he is for us , maybe because of more freedom he gets , I think his future role is behind the attacker one not a winger's , he can be great but he still have to prove himself that he can be that great game after game.

No one gave Lampard a chance in hell to be 2nd best player on the planet while he was at West Ham. That's like saying last year's Fletcher will be WPOTY runner-up in 4 years. You just never know.

S4p, Kalou is quality, with an abundance of natural talent. Sadly, as he's a kid, he needs to play as often as possible - Chelsea isn't the club to achieve this. I said it before he moved to Chelsea, and I'll say it again: he's too lightweigth for the prem at the moment.

Kalou is the perfect foil for Sheva to play (two upfront) with - yes, better than Drogba. That is when Lampard is dropped, and Ballack fills his place (inject the team and Sheva with some much needed creativity and through passes), then Chelsea will be a different team alltogether.
