What does the future hold for Fred?
    Frederico Chaves Guedes 'Fred' 101530

Has Fred got the potential to be among the top 5 strikers in Europe in 2-3 years time? If yes, then which top club from England, Spain or Italy will come knocking first for his services?

On current form who are the top 5 strikers in Europe?

I can't believe Feyenoord switch him with some sort of lousy player like Magrao or something.

    Laugh

Very good striker still doesn't warrant a place in the top 5 strikers IMO. Could well be in the future.

Well, Lyon are currently the best club in Europe imo. They have such a good forward line. I think that if Fred doesn't have Malouda and Govou running around him, then he won't look as good.

IMO, it's too early to know his future. He is still young.

Of course it's not based on their current form. But imo they are always in my top5 strickers.

Fred for sure will be one of the best strikers in the world, no doubt about that! but he is still young and he still needs time to be at his best. Maybe in a couple of years he will hopefully score 20+ in the league. To be honest, I can't see him go anywhere in the soon future, Lyon are playing great and I can't see many teams better than them except Barca or Chelsea, or maybe Milan. On the last 11 games they've played they ahev won 10 and drew once.

Crouch's a decent player, but certainly not in the top 5, not even in the top 10

Yes, I don't think Crouch is in the top10 so far. But he deserve to be more respected.

He was released from his contract last night and is likely to sign for a Brazilian club over the next few days.

Wasted talent? I think so. But if you were the Lyon manager you would go for Benzema every day of the week.

I heard he didn't want to stay in Netherlands and it wasn't straight swap, Feyenoord got cash as well.

Fred is a wasted talent for sure. It's a pity he never managed to settle in. He had all sorts of problems these years and was a bit capricious time to time. I still wish to find a good club where he can play and get his confidence back. I'm pretty sure he'll be back in Europe after.

Funny that almost all the forwards we sold did well after: Kanoute, Baros, Carew. There must be a syndrome with the president.

What did you think of Nilmar during his time at Lyon?

I hope he comes back to Europe, always looked like a good player to me and he is still only 24.

Nilmar is a wasted talent for sure and he should play in Europe. He was unfortunately too young when he played for us. I've heard that he has been pretty prolific since joining Corinthians ( and Internacional on loan). I hope he comes bacl to Europe for a second chance.
