who's the best keeper?

so who in your opinion is the best keeper over the last 4 years

given, sorensen, jusi, VDS, friedel

all imo have been performing constantly IMO

so what do you guys think

Cech.

Even though he's out injured now.

Smashed all defensive records in his first season (from number of clean sheets, to goals conceded etc)

I know Van Der Sars position may suprise a few people but over the last four years he has spent around 3 at Fulham where his form was not the greatest.

Schwarzer beats Sorensen for me, i think the Dane's been on the decline over the last 4 years. His best form was at the Mackems.

Cech if we had to do 1st 2 seasons.

I think Given is overhyped a bit. Don't get me wrong, he is good keeper but not as good as most people suggest. To play for a midtable team where u can make twenty spectualr saves in every match is quite different from playing for a top side where u are expected to save that single chance the opposition might get.

The problem is that you see keepers letting in goals for Championship sides left, right and center, make a few great saves and not be hyped as much as Given. Unless he gets clean sheets (in spite of his defense) he will never be truly rated - hence why he is still at Newcastle.

People rate Given above Cech because Cech isn't on show as much - yet we don't know how he would perform under the same circumstances. I can't remember seeing Cech make even a slight error.

Given's main attribute is that he doesn't seem to make gross mistakes - any mistakes by keepers instantly bring down their reputations in the eye of the media.

So basically Given doesn't make mistakes and he makes TOO MANY saves. You realise Newcastle had the 7th best defensive record in the premiership last year, Given is the reason for that.

If Given played in goal for Chelsea do you think they would let in more goals?

given is probably the best keeper in the premiership and im amazed he's still at newcatle. Importantly how will he do after he recovers from his injury?

He very good, but any 'keeper that sees a lot of action is bound to look good.

The best 'keepers (Buffon, Cech and Schmeichel back in the day) can go through a long period without being called into action, and still come up with a game winning save. That's more than just natural ability, it's also focus.

He's not stealing 15 pts a season like Schmeichel used to, he makes sure that defeats don't turn into hammerings and burials.

Jussi is awesome, he's really improved over the past few years. Before his kicking was really shit, now it's actually pretty good. And after that Balckburn game, no keeper can come close to him.

Championship more like, we would have been relegated under Souness without him.

TS, that's EXACTLY what he's worth, in fact he's probably worth more. Last season we got 58 points, without him i'm sure we would've been in the relegation zone with under 40 points.

I don't think you realise just how valuble he has been in recent seasons, he's been worth so many points to us.
