    Gonzalo Higuain Empty Gonzalo Higuain

Post by Machiavel Tue Oct 24, 2006 4:37 pm

Gonzalo Higuain is being lined up for a move to England, according to Pini Zahavi - who now controls half of the River Plate starlet.

Zahavi, along with a group of investors, has finalised a deal with River Plate for a reported $6 million (£3.2 million).

Now the Israeli super-agent has confirmed that a move to England is looking the most likely option for a player who over the past few months has attracted scouts from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Lazio, Milan and Internazionale.

"The boy is special," beamed Zahavi.

"He is big, strong and well suited to the English game. English football has become stronger than Italy and Spain and players want to try it for themselves."

Zahavi admitted buying a big stake in a player as young as Higuain, just 18 - was a risk.

"I recommend players to investors," he expanded to the Daily Express.

"The idea is to locate them when they are young on the way to the top, the risk is bigger but they cost less."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While a tug of war for his services looks set to ensue in the near future, a battle over his international future has already begun.

Although he has spent virtually all his life in Argentina, Higuain was actually born in France as his father Jorge was plying his trade as a footballer there.

Now France are hot on the trail of one of the brightest prospects in South America and - as with David Trezeguet - are hopeful the player will snub Argentina.

"We know the player, and he is interesting," French coach Raymond Domenech opined recently.

"One does not play at that level if he does not have talent and the second quality is that he could be French.

"He is a player we are going to follow closely. But we can select him at any time as he is French."

Higuain has thus far refused all call-ups to the Argentina youth set-up - but the player is yet to disclose a preference for either country.

Surely we don't need him then. We have Rooney and Rossi for the future.

    If he's a striker maybe.

French media are hyping him up as the next trezeguet, due to the same ARgentina-France thing.

If we can get him into the French setup, then I'll be very happy.

Yeah we are.. apparently so is Athletic Bilbao Very Happy..

But since he is half owned by MSI, he will probably be moving around to strange clubs for a while. I fucking hate agents... they should be stood up against a wall and shot. Waste of air and a drain on the clubs and players, like humanoid leeches

Football is taking a turn for the worse with these agents like Zahavi, and this MSI group. They have no real interest in the players welfare, just the profits that they will make. FIFA needs to address this soon.

It won't be long before they invest in Gago and the Independiete goalkeeper.

I've only seen him a couple of times, but I genuinely don't see the Trezeguet comparison. The Kaká one is alot closer, but he tends to start further forward, a little like Rooney.

His awareness is top notch though, that's plainly obvious. The reactions to where the ball was in relation to his feet for the back heel against Boca was class Ale

We could do with a player like him, the new Kenny Dalglish Ale

On the subject of Riverplate, how old is Farías? His finish against Banfield recently was quality. Took it first time and struck it beautifully.

Pretty PO'd, there's negativity about us everywhere (understandably I guess, but people saying Rafa should go is ridiculous). You going tomorrow night? I don't fancy our chances.

ye we get slated left right and centre,
but we have to expect it dont we, after all imagine Chelsea or Man u in our position.

i'm not going for once, ticket prices were ridiculous for this type of game and were not even playing well either so theres no point, will just listen to it on the radio

Pure speculation I imagine... I've read several of the dodgy stories saying that we had made a bid of around £9-10 million, and that Indipendiente naturally wanted more... but I wouldn't say they were from reliable sources.

Aguero was clearly searching for an "out" anyways. I think he was a fan of every interested club Rolling Eyes

Who can blame him when the big boys come calling and suddenly you can secure your family financially forever.. No Argentinean kid would ever be a huge fan of a premiership club, due to the fact that it is not really a (succesful) destination for Argentinean players.. well that is my opinion anyway..
