    Hasn't been done yet.

And it may reflect a kind of quality control of the clubs.

(Would O'Shea ever play for Chelski?)

If you're talking about starting 11, I think the players in the top 4 are all excellent players (some obviously not as good as others), and would push to get into any team in the world.

Darren Fletcher? Justin Hoyte? Jermaine Pennant?

can't see these players pushing to get into many top sides, Chelsea's squad is horrible, rivals most top interntional sides for depth.

Hoyte is very underrated. Pennant isn't in the main first Liverpool XI is he? (they play Gerrard wide right). Fletcher isn't in the main Man Utd XI most of the time either.

I'm not sure Hoyte is underrated - certainly he is not going to make the grade at Arsenal. Eboue is first choice. Lauren is coming back and Gilbert is a stronger long term option in my opinion.

O'Shea would not make it in any of the other teams.

Clutching at straws relly wasn't I!

Hoyte looks much better this seson, but he really is only an athlete who's had some football coaching, I don't see him everbeing a regular for a big club or playing too much for Arsenal. Pennant is supposed to be the player Rafa was moaning about not having all last season (strangely he was set to sign for us the summer Rafa joined but Rafa vetoed the move) Fletcher has played a lot on the right this season -he seems to be a utility player, the new Nicky Butt.

Sorry but, I really find it funny that ManU fans hype up Fletcher this way. Against Liverpool, how exactly did he outplay their entire midifeld? All of Liverpool's attacks (which weren't a lot admittedly) came on ManU's right hand side. Nearly all of ManU's attacks originated in the left hand side. So how can it be said that Fletcher had such a great game? In the first half, I don't think I even noticed Fletcher touching ball besides a few times.

Not long ago, ManU fans were also hyping up Richardson to high heavens only to figure out that he was crap not long after just like the rest of us. It seems like a similar situation is taking place with Fletcher though admittedly, a lot of ManU fans already think he's crap.

    Care to name those attacks?

He was closing down Alonso constantly and Riise, one of Liverpool's best outlets could barely get out of his own half. Fletcher's passing was also very good.

As for hyping up Richardson, thats just pure generalisation based on nothing, he's shit and always had been.

    Fletcher isn't.

    *Sigh*

I couldn't give a toss what any United fan says to me, I don't think Fletcher will ever be more than a 12th man or at the very best the weak spot opponent managers always target.

That said, I do think there's a culture of under-rating Fletcher, of which I am admittedly a part, because he's looked a bit of a donkey in the past.

Against that, there's now a counter-culture of Utd fans over-rating the bloke and raving about his potential to be one of the best midfielders in the league.

I don't think either will prove true in the long run.

    Fletcher isn't.

Regarding Richardson, I remember a lot of hype surrounding him about a year ago, when he scored a free kick with England and got a few appearances for ManU. He was even getting more hype than Fletcher is getting now.

During the game, didn't you notice that Gerrard was kept invisible by Giggs and Evra while Gonzales had a bunch of shooting opportunities and got several crosses in? Admittedly, both his shooting and crosses were quite bad, but he got into a lot of positions that Gerrard got nowhere near. A more skillful player or Gonzales on a better day could have caused ManU a lot of problems. Liverpool sensed ManU's weakness on the right hand side and tried nearly every attack on that side.

    I'm going to try...

These are players who'd I'd expect to make 30+ appearances in all competitions... or be a league cup regular.

    --------------------------Almunia
    P.Ferreira-----Hyypia--------Silvestre--------Warnock
    SWP-----------O'Shea------Lampard-------Richardson
    -----------------Smith---------Bellamy

Hyypia is clearly on a downward curve (age), so it sounds harsher than it's meant to be... aside from that, the rest have all done enough to warrant their inclusion in "worst of the top 4 XI" over the past 18 months.

    @ Obispo

Obviously, with Aurelio now there, I expect Rafa to Cut Warnaock loose - sooner rather than later. But he's seen an lot of match time over the past couple of years, has he not? Smiley
    -----------------------------------------------------------

    @ Cotr

Zenden is twice the footballer that SWP could ever hope to be. From what I've seen of him at Liverpool, he's done a sound job, especially when asked to play centrally.

SWP's limitations have been so exposed since going to SW6 - Liverppol fans have been moaning about Pennant, but he's had a decent impact, a few assists, and was a third of the price. SWP has done next to nothing since going to Chelsea.

And I'm just doing the teams that are our representatives in the CL - i.e last seasons top 4.

Kieran Richardson by far. He's way out of his league in a top 4 team. He should move permanently to West Brom.
