What summer buy looks the worst now
I think at this point it's clearly Babel. 13 mill or something and he cannot even start ahead of riise.
Bent runs him close though, for the cash and where Tottenham are possibly due to wasting the money on him

Has to be Bent.
At least Liverpool tried to address a weakness.

He has been slightly unlucky with fitness problems, but when he has played he has looked slightly lost at times. Hopefully he can find himself soon. He has done it internationally at Croatia.
Its a good job van Persie and Adebayor have been sensational.

The BBC have been consistently reporting it at 16 million i.e. pretty much the whole whack you got for Henry. In truth, we don't know how much he cost.

Like, wow, Croatia. He's got a long way to go to prove to me that he's anything close to worth a place in Arsenal's strikeforce.

Van Persie's been pretty Cr@p. Adebayor has been outstanding.

Babel - dutch usually settle well, so a big disappointment. looks too much money
Smith - knew what you were getting too much money but so so buy
Harewood - never understood it, less so now
Hargreaves - time will tell v good player injury prone though it would seem too early to judge
Eduardo - brazilian coming from e europe too early to tell
D.Bent - bad buy didn't need him bad buy
Allaridere - done better than i expected when hes started but has had probs with injuries in the past which again has reared its head, too early to tell much like hargreaves
Bianchi - not enjoying england but sven was bound to have 1 disappointment given the signings he made in such a short period, could still come good if he settles
Nugent - no explanation for this, other than he ain't as good as harry thought, sale in jan.
Smith - knew what you were getting too much money but so so buy

It has generally been reported by the BBC and most newspapers that we signed him for £8m, with some reports going up to £10m. I thought that the Zagreb chairman or whoever it was that said £16m explained that what he said was mistranslated or misunderstood and that the fee was less than £16m.

I voted Nugent, any player who is bought and is then put back on the transfer list deserves to be voted the worst transfer.
Bent is probably the second worst signing of the season as Spurs clearly didnt need him and this seasons results have shown that they should have used the £16m transfer fee to buy a CM and a winger.
Babel hasnt been that bad, although it doesnt help that he is playing in the wrong position and Liverp0-0l have been $h!t.
If Hargreaves continues to pick up a new injury every week, then he will get my vote.

Re: What summer buy looks the worst now
Babel: unfinshed article, young, inconsistent, too expensive - nothing that hasn't been said before he played one game for pool. Doesn't help being played out of position and rafatated. Still talented and odd moment of brilliance. could go eitehr way but Rafa's pool not the right club at this time.The-Frank-Tavern wrote:Babel - dutch usually settle well, so a big disappointment. looks too much money

Smith: Toon payed too much and got exactly what they paid for; lots of aimless running and disrupting own team's play. Fat Sam seems in love.
Harewood: Not doing bad or right. Just being Harewood. Oh, and that penalty against Spurs.
Hargreaves: Has been injured for about 12 months out of the last 18. The DMs Woodgate. Still will do good job when fit.
Eduardo: expensive and hasn't show anything of note yet. dissapointment
D. Bent: the beginning of the end of Spurs as we know it.
Alliadere: will do fine for Boro when not injured.
Bianchi: flop
X-factor: Sunderland is even a level too high for him. Flop
Nugent: Harry tried to offload him two weeks after purchase. That should be enough info: either he's a c**t or he's $h!t or he's a shite c**t. He's also very smooth with the ladies.
Biggest flop: D. Bent. Bianchi and Nugent will not play for their clubs. With X-factor and Smith you knew exactly what you were getting: over the top for United's cast-offs; but hey, they're English. Harewood is being Harewood. The jury is still somewhat out on: Hargreaves, Eduardo, Babel, Alliadere,

Depend...I'd say Nugent is the worst palyer in that list.Just because he scored 1 goal with England they bought him for £6m!!!
Imo Bent is a good player but needs to play in a more stable Tottenham team.

he's not even being harewood because he hasn't been playing. can't get on the bench even when carew's injured. that penalty is about his sole contribution in the league. £4m well spentDD wrote:

wasn't babel involed in the winner at the weekend? so his contribution so far has exceeded hargreaves's contribution at a lower price, therefore according to your own thread title of "whihc looks worst buy now" babel has been better than hargreaves
i voted for bent anyway, just showing you how stupid your argument is

Babel is an average player, I never really expected him to make much of an impact. Never understood how some here were comparing him to Henry. Liverpool should have bought a LW/LM to play at LW.
Nugent & Bent have both been a waste of space.

So a guy who cost 13 mill and has not even got a place ahead of riise, is a better buy because he's played rubbish? as opposed to hargreaves who hasnt played...but maybe will play a big part when fit. Your argument is stupid not mine.

not sure if you have heard lrd but rafa is pretty keen on something called rotation

great argument there for who is the worst buy now
maybe hargreaves will be a crock like saha and hardly play, then a player who plays badly but contributes is better than a player who cost more and hardly plays
everyone can play the maybe game
look:
- babel maybe will get better and score the winning goal in the CL final
- bent maybe will score hatricks in the next 10 games
but if you want to judge them now, judge them on what they have done so far not on what maybe they will do in the future, and hargreaves has done less than babel as of this moment
as for his place ahead of riise, there are endless discussions on the rafatation policy, and maybe benitez didn't decide where his best position is yet, on the other hand hargreaves best position seesm to be on the treatment table

Like Rez said, Nugent for being put straight back on the transfer list. Bent has at least played, but his price tag does make him a candidate.

I actually went for Bent, because I am so scarred by what's happened to my club. Feels like all the good work of the last 2-3 seasons has gone out of the window.
But the Nugent situation is truly hilairious, I'd laugh more if Spurs weren't so buggered.

I'm going with Hargreaves. We paid 17 million for constant knee tendonitis! On the + side had he not been injured then we wouldn't have been able to see what Anderson is capable off just yet.

Anderson has just started to show glimpses of what he can do, and i though Bianchi started the season on fire, and has subsequently been dropped from the team. I thought he came across quite Berbatov esq.
