Manchester United and Liverpool are the latest sides thought to be showing an interest in Lille's Kader Keita.

The Ivory Coast winger is a long-term target of a host of top European clubs, having shown his potential in just over a season at Lille.

Keita is now proving his talent on the European stage in the UEFA Champions League and the likes of Internazionale, Roma and Lyon have all been credited with an interest.

Portsmouth were previously linked with the 25-year-old but could face stiff competition to bring him to The Premiership with the reported interest of Liverpool and United.

Keita recently penned a contract extension through to 2010 with Lille and the Ligue 1 club are unlikely to consider selling in the January transfer window.

However, Lille are understood to be willing to allow Keita to leave next summer should a suitable offer come in for the Ivorian.

    Potential transfer target 4,084.

Don't think we need a winger anyway.

Did you read the page before that?

I said all along I don't think we need one but if we were after a winger I wouldn't mind Malouda or LENNON. Even that would be next summer.

I'd rather just a central midfield and recall Rossi in January.

Routledge is like what Keita wishes he was like! Wink

I do agree that he's excellent... even if he missed a sitter vs Argentina in the WC.

If you're talking about Europe's best winger this (calendar) year then its this guy without question.

Nah, Beckham will end up in America. Over there, being good looking, a bit dim but pleasant to everyone gets you a long way.

I remember little of Keita from the World Cup, except that he's very athletic. I keep saying that Man U don't need a winger until Giggs is well and truly shot. You wouldn't want to have to leave him or Ronaldo out of the side to accomodate the new man. Or Park. Or Rooney.

Still, I suppose that you can never have too many good impact substitutes. Sell Richardson to, I dunno, Newcastle or some other desperate club who'll pay good whack for him. No offence to Newcastle, but they're in the shit at the moment and are bound to spend money in January.

Liverpool on the other hand could certainly do with a winger, particularly if Kewell's still only going to be fit when Australia are playing and Pennant continues his poor form. They have plenty of players who are effective at building up play through the middle but despite adding Bellamy, Gonzalez and Pennat seem to lack pace. Maybe one or two of those three will hit form and the problem will be solved, but I could see why Liverpool might be a bit more interested than Man U.

Saints raises a good point, if were buying a winger I want him to be every bit as good as Giggs or the potential to be. No point buying a squad player when we have Park who does that and very well also.

Haven't seen much of this guy but hopefully Fergie and the scouts have done their homework.

Well, you had that problem with Kleberson, Miller, DjembaII. None were good enough to warrant leaving Keane or Scholes out of the side except when they needed a rest, but you had to give them games to try to help them develop and adapt. All three were, arguably, never going to be good enough, but they never got 10 games in a row in the team to really prove it either way.

Same position now with your attacking midfielders/split strikers. If they aren't good enough to play 25-35 games a season and put pressure on the others to deliver then they're a waste of time, money, effort and positions in the starting 11.

How well and trully shot is that? He's going to be 33 at the end of this month. I can't see us getting more than 30 games out of Giggs this season, I imagine it will dwindle even further next season. I see no reason why Keita wouldn't get a shitload of games if he proves himself better than Park.

I think we need a winger because Richardson will be out soon and Giggs cant last a whole season thus leaving our options as PArk and Ronaldo.
If this Kieta guy is as good as people are saying here then I have no prob bringing him in.
    He's a RW?
