It is amazing that Graham Poll is still considered one of the very best refs around, after all the contraversy that has followed him for years now. The last week however, has perhaps been the icing on the cake.
First of all, Poll is supposedly telling Sky Sports "Chelsea need to be taught a lesson", then his explanation for disallowing Drogba's goal was "Before the ball came into play John Terry pushed a Tottenham defender, so I waited for the ball to come into play before blowing". Wonderful excuse Ashley Cole, stupidly, labels him a "fucking cheat"
He then has more contraversy in mid-week, when James McFadden ends the night also labelling him a "fucking cheat". Clearly, imo, this is no coincidence.
Finally, he has yet more contraversy yesterday, when he strangely disallows Manchester City's goal. Joey Barton manages to stay cool about it, but he clearly looks bemused at the end.
And they want to give this guy games like Man United-Chelsea?
A championship level ref imo. Bennett > Poll.
