Poll was never as bad as made out. He's still one of the better ref'fs IMO, but because of his huge self-confidence, people couldn't wait to knock him down after the card mix-up at the World Cup.

Poll was seen as one of the best in England before the world cup, if I remember rightly. People are so quick to make out that 1 awful match = an awful career. He was ok.

He's not as good as me though.

He was shockingly awful, he was one of those terrible referees that is desperate to be the star of the show and wanted all the back pages to revolve around him.

He may have been flamboyant but look at the other referres:

So many are worse than him.

Riley cost us our 49 match unbeaten run. It still hurts Sad

Didn't mind him last season but this season has put himself too much into the limelight. Refs are meant to be invisible in a match.
