Goodbye Aragones, Hello Camacho ? Empty Goodbye Aragones, Hello Camacho ?

Post by La Saeta Rubia Wed Nov 22, 2006 6:00 pm

Translated version in ENGLISH, not sure if it will make alot of sense seeing as i translated it from a site.

The Spanish FA could be about to fire Luis Aragones and to offer the job to Camacho.

Luis Aragones could be on the verge of being fired as national coach. Everything indicates that the leaders of the Spanish FA are thinking of firing Aragones in the next few days.

It all happened yesterday morning, in the act of decorating with the insignia of gold and diamonds of Real Madrid which accredits the head of the FIFA Joseph Blatter as socio of honor, in the Santiago Bernabéu. The head of the Spanish FA Angel María Villar, and some members of its board of directors who were also at the act commented in a 'clique' in that act that in the next days they are going to dismiss Luis Aragones as Spanish coach.

After this affirmation, a debate began in the 'clique' to see what coach would be the suitable one to occupy the charge. The candidates were reduced to two: Vicente Del Bosque & José Antonio Camacho. All they coincided in which, due to the situation that the national team is in that the most indicated one would be Camacho, Camacho who had already managed the national team between 1998 and 2002.

The idea of the Spanish FA is that Luis Aragones wont be coaching the team against England on the 7 of February.

    "Luis Aragonese has gone crazy"

The decision was made by Villar after Spain`s terrible match against Romania in Cadiz. Just as reported by the Cadena SER, the president of the Spanish FA is claimed to have said "Luis Aragonese has gone crazy, why were Xabi Alonso and Cesc taken off at half time". After the loss to the Romanian's, already in the airport, Aragones commented to some journalists that, that game could have been his final one in front of the national team: "Maybe I will get fired after this"

On the 14th of December there is board meeting of directors of the Spanish FA and that could be when Aragones is fired as national coach.

This is so stupid... why can't spain get someone tactically astute to become the coach, specially defensively.... if rafa is not interested, get someone from outside spain... hire Lippi for chrissakes!!!

To be honest Aragones should have gone a long time ago, for footballing and political reasons.

Why do people want to get rid of him - ignoring the poor results. At the world cup Spain and Holland played some of the best football now the fans seemed to have turned on both of them.

Great! We get the fat bastard with sweaty armpits Whistle

I know Camacho is a Madrid legend and all, but I truly hate his coaching and in my opinion, his legendary status has been tainted to some extent for the way he screwed over Madrid on two occasions. As a coach, he two stints. The first time the whiny cunt quit after 1 month, the second time he quits after 3 months!!!! Then he has the audacity to run as sports director with Baldasano this year! If Baldasano had won, Camacho would have probably left like the weeping pussy he is after 6 months once he couldn't get his signings.

And let's not forget the last time Camacho was Spanish coach. Admittedly, he did some good things. Spain nearly made the semi-finals in Euro 2000 but Raul missed a last minute penalty against France. Spain should have also made the semis in the 2002 WC had it not been for a corrupt ref.

Nevertheless, Spain never convinced me under Camacho. We lost against Cypress in a qualifier for starters which was even worse than the Northern Ireland result. We were too defensive overall. And in the WC, he made some unbelivably stupid mistakes. Against Ireland, the idiot took out every single striker for the last 20 minutes when Spain was leading only 1-0. Of course, Ireland scored toward the end and we were forced to play extra time without a single striker Doh Spain was lucky that the game went to penalties. Then against Korea, he had Spain playing counter-attack for most of the game. Regardless of the refereeing decisions, Spain should have gone out all guns blazing against Korea and show that it was really determined to get to the semis.

Camacho's coaching style is basically yelling a lot. He tries to act like Dirty Harry which is why he never establishes even the smallest bond with his players. The players never play for him. I'm not saying he should become friends with them or anything, but calling players morons or divas or whatever is not going to improve things. That's what he tried to do when he coached Madrid in 2005. When Zidane would try to do a trick in practice for example Camacho would yell "Hey diva, save the tricks for the circus. This is football!" Doh

So basically, replacing Aragones with Camacho is like replacing a douche with a turd sandwich.
